Thanks for the reply. Hmm, not really positive, things have been particularly crap of late but that's no reason to stop trying to make the world a better place.

    Does this tool exist?

Best way of removing brambles in my experience is a slasher or a sickle for clearance coupled with an 18" metal spike. It really helps lever out the bulb and lets you chase down the taproot. Anything with a wooden handle is simply not up to bramble rooting, you just need more leverage than it...

    Refurb help please, old BAK

I unearthed my grandfathers WWII issue knife the other day (blade, can-opener and marlin-spike) it's a bit corroded, stiff and the main blade is slightly bent. I would love to refurb it but a quick search only gives the idea of soaking it in vinegar but I'm not sure of how it would effect the...

    Going to the woods...

Try this for research.. http://pfaf.org/user/plantsearch.aspx Salad options at this time of year include dandilion, nettle (blanch very slightly to loose sting), sorrell, cleavers, pennywort and gorse flowers just off the top of my head but I'm only learning still. The best bet is to take...

    Any good ideas?

Rabbit baked in mustard powder/seasoned flour is lush. Most fish cook well when seasoned, stuffed with a slice of lemmon, a knob of butter and herbs of thy choice; wrap in foil and cook in the ashes. Hope you enjoy your grub :)

Breaking of the michelin(-ish) star wilderness chef

I used to cook for a living and love food so here's my two cents.. Thicker walled pans/billies may be heavier but will burn less as they spread the heat more, nothing ruins a dish more than carbonising in a pan; aluminium also has associations with alzheimers. Butter makes almost everything...

Hobo Stove Gallery (Probably picture heavy)

It will probably be fine, I assume aluminium is more popular as it has a lower mass and therefore robs less heat from the fire so you heat your billy more than the stove, that's all. Could be wrong, often am. You could always steal the wife's tin anyway, after all, making up is the fun part ;)
