    Alternative to Coleman fuel

Naptha is a mixture of diffrent hydrocarbons I think "It consists of a complex mixture of hydrocarbon molecules generally having between 5 and 12 carbon atoms" Tetrysol is just a single hydrocarbon called n-Hexane that has 6 carbon atoms. Light naphtha Would burn well though I think.

    Alternative to Coleman fuel

Well if I come across some 4T while on my travels I'll be sure to give it a go. Off for a week wild camping and scrambling in Scotland in a couple of weeks so between us I gues we could get through a fair bit of fuel.

    Alternative to Coleman fuel

Yea I came across that but couldn't find supplers in my area, it didn't work out any cheaper than Tetrosyl and I wasn't sure if would leave a residue/ greasy layer with it still being designed to be used in engines - even if it's meant to burn cleaner. I'd be interested to know how do you find...

    Few newbie questions about tarp

After My friens tarp ripped to pieces earlier this year during a trip to Snowdonia we both crammed under my DD solo 2.8 x 1.8 which was hunkered down on one side due to strong winds and rain. We both just managed to cram under but had to leave our bags out in the rain under their rain covers...

    Alternative to Coleman fuel

Well I've been running my TK800or S-9 stove on petrol for a while as I refuse to pay £10 for a liter of Coleman fuel but I finally got sick of the smell of petrol and the fumes given off whil priming the stove, not to mention the greasy film it leaves in anything you spill it on. So I started...

    Mountain bike body armour?

Well I had a kidney removed a while back and could do with a kidney protector fo sporrs activities mountain biking, paintball etc.. Ideally I'm looking for a kidneya and back protector that's lightweight and breathable. The problem I'm having is that most seem to be kidney compression belts...

    Gelert Solo One Man Tent

Could work quite nicley but might become detatched in wind and with the inner touching the outer condensation may find its way into the inner. Either way have fun!

    Tarp Suggestions Please

Another vote for the DD 3x3. I use the DD solo 2.8x1.8 but find it too small sometimes however if you after a light weight tarp it's brilliant. Will sleep two under it in good weather if you hunker it right down to the ground ('A' frame type shape) in bad weather it will not move but will feel...

    Gelert Solo One Man Tent

Just a thought you might be able to attatch a fixing point/loop to the outside of the inner half way along the slope/where sags, then lead a cord from that point to one of the tent pegs and tie it so it's taught.

    Lifesaver Bottle

Thpught about getting one they look great! But I don't get out enough to warrant buying one as the filter has a limited life before you need to replace it regardless of how often you use it. So I got a steripen and micron filter bag instead. But the reviews all say they're brilliant so enjoy!

    1 Man Coleman Tents?

Does anyone think a cut to shape IPK sheet will make a good footprint for a tent rather than spending £50 on the official one? or will it be too thin and flimsy? And finally (hopefully) can anyone recomend some light weight tent pegs that can be pitched anywhere (excluding sand and snow) and...

    Lightening the load

So all of this talk about light weight kit where are the lines actualy drawn regarding heavy weight, average, light and ultralight pack base weights?

    2012 Helium 200

Just a quick question... again. I'm hoping to get the 2012 model Vango Helium 200 but I've heard the older 2011 model was bit low at each end for taller people/ people using thick mats. Looking at the 2012 version there is now an extra fiber support at the ends to raise the hight of the inner...

    Me birthday presents

I have on of those :D Heavier than some but indestructible and packs down fairly small and only once had a condensation issue with it (sorted now just needed a bit nikwax)

    Terra Nova Laser Competition 1

Drool... How would A 6ft 1 person fair in this tent?

    Me birthday presents

If your only going out in good weather/ rain and mild wind a Tarp might be worth considering (as stater below) You can still be out side while under them, less condensation, far more versatile, you can cook under them and more social if others are with you and takes up less room in yor pack :)

    Gelert Solo One Man Tent

If it doesn't work out I think the Coelman Libra X1 is in a similar price bracket but probs about 500g heavier. Good luck with the gelert. I'm in the market for a new tent so will be good to hear what you make of it. Happy camping.

    TK 800 / Booster Stove.

Will try mine out on a full bottle when I get some cleaner burning fuel and also clock time taken to boil 1 ltr of water -after a few uses of using standard petrol it is a little black to say the least.

    Which Bivi Bag?

I use a standard army DMP gortex bivi and I don't think its weight can be much more than 500g. Thinking back I think I clocked it at about 560g but don't quote me.
