    Tarp failed, looking for tents

I've thought about that, but it's such thin material, I'm not sure how well it would hold. Maybe as a last resort but if that fails me in the middle of the mountains it's gonna suck :p

    Tarp failed, looking for tents

Been checking out all you guys have mentioned. For the weight and price I'm leaning towards a zephyros 2 that would be 136 pounds shipped to Georgia from sports direct. Seem to be the best for shipping anyway. But they also hl have the vango scimitar 200 for a nice price but no idea about that...

    Tarp failed, looking for tents

    Tarp failed, looking for tents

Actually there isn't. It's crazy. There's one north face store but very very high prices. I would have thought with so much harder tourism aimed at hiking there would be great choices... But there just isn't. Found a banshee 300 with free shipping for 125 pounds which includes two sleeping...

    Tarp failed, looking for tents

Hey all. I'm a Canadian who has been hitchhiking through Europe for the past 6 months, and am in Tbilisi, Georgia, at the moment. Had a silnylon tarp from a small US maker get a big rip from a bad storm in Armenia... And it's going to take a while to get a replacement from him. I've done...

    Desert pants

Unfortunately these pants are a bit pricey for the likes of me. I'll keep a lookout for deals. One of the bigger reasons i'm out for military kit is the cheapness. I figure I could perhaps dye the stuff and blend in a bit better.

Clothing Advice - what system do you use?

Corach, you described the exact system i'm interested in at the moment! Down to the dying of the desert smock idea! Hah. At first I was looking at full on hard shell goretex (so basically waterproof smock) with pit zips as I get hot easily... But prices are high, and i'd likely still get too...

    Desert pants

hey all, i'm on the search for some decent (and decently cheap) pants. I get hot fast, and a sweaty crotch sucks. For the past couple years I was traveling around Europe, and Morocco, wearing poly/cotton (60/40 I believe) pants which were sweat boxes. Ended up cutting them into shorts and it was...

    What did you buy today?

Well I bought the "old man pouch" a week ago for 5euros at a flea market in Athens. Had to replace the stitching, which I did with waxed thread. Used Dubbin on the leather. It had a shoulder strap but it was so old it broke immediately... So I stitched the ends into loops so it's now a...

A cheap roomy leather belt pouch?

Hey all. As the title says, looking for a leather belt pouch with enough room to stick my money, passports, maybe a few other random pieces of... Stuff. Currently use a ww2 leather double magazine pouch for my fire starting kit and holding my opinel. Im currently in athens, figured i might find...

Swap snugpak jungle bag and tenth wonder sargasso tarp and hornet hammock

Hey all, so its getting to be winter time and im travelling in greece. Im sleeping in constantly lower temps, it will be 0 celsius soon, and i use a wool blanket and likely soon my emergency blanket to stay warm in this thing...I would like to swap for a warmer more wintery friendly bag. If...

Fairly cheap boots for mostly long distance walking, some hiking

So i was checking out meindl desert fox boots. They look like a steal if i can nab the right one on ebay... And since it is getting very rainy here in greece (never expected almost two weeks of rain here), i was thinking about getting those and then getting gaiters for when the weather is bad? I...

Fairly cheap boots for mostly long distance walking, some hiking

Hey all. So as I have brought up a couple of times before, I am hitchhiking around Europe... I am using a pair of Danners "rough out" boots, but the blooy things are falling apart. Worse than any boot i've used before.... Stitching is coming loose on multiple locations, the goretex lining seems...

    What bergen/pack/rucksack?

I have the Berghaus atlas, a slightly different version of the vulcan. i have been hitchhiking and hiking around Europe for a bit more than a year with around 40-55 pounds and its been great from Scotland to Greece. No problems thus far, and it still looks relatively new somehow (ive even tried...

    Sleeping bag for the Mediterranean

You guys are reassuring, thanks :D Have any places in Greece and Turkey to recommend? I hope to visit ruins, battlefields, camp out on beaches when I can.. and just wander around, mostly. I wouldnt mind doing some longer hiking either... I havent done TOO much on this adventure so far.

    Sleeping bag for the Mediterranean

Right now I have a Marmot Trestles 15f. I've been hitchhiking with it over the past half year. Worked great, but at almost 4 pounds, it's a bit heavy and definitely bulky. I have a place I can store my cooler weather kit, so i'm looking at lighter stuff for this spring, summer, and autumn. I...

A waterproof or windproof jacket for this spring and summer

When I get to Greece, I plan to either head west towards Spain, or East into Turkey. I might do that! Damn Europe... So many choices :D I think i'm leaning more towards Turkey. Besides the ancient history of Italy, im not TOO interested in that direction... yet.
