Suffolk Bushcraft Group - 2 Night Meeting Friday 9th Jan to Sunday 11th Jan 2015

Gents, Really sorry for the late notice but I'm going to have to give this weekend a miss. The trials of expecting a little'un I'm afraid... nothing too serious, just enough that I can't really head off to the woods. Keep me in mind for next month and I'll instruct the bump to behave...

Suffolk Bushcraft Group - 2 Night Meeting Friday 9th Jan to Sunday 11th Jan 2015

No problem. From a skills point of view I'm virtually newbie anyway! As I'm down on the list here, I won't reply to the FB message as I'm guessing this was for the newbies. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    The british pub

Tale of two sides by me... Some of our traditional pubs closed or changed hands a number of times. Of course it's sad to see a building used as a pub for 300 years change use but at the same time a lot were not viable or were the type of place that needed to close. Out of 6+ that closed 4 are...

Newbie seeks multiday basic-to-advanced survival course in UK. Recommendations?

If you want a course recommendation then I can recommend Woodsmoke. They run a very good value 1 week course (Woodlander) that covers a lot of the basics. I did this before knowing much about the subject, so it was a good introduction. There's a LOT to be said for getting out with some people...

    Finland / Laipanmaa

I'd be interested as work is currently taking me to Hameenlinna every month or so. I won't have much time in the summer though, so any trips would have to be March-April (or Autumn, if I'm still working their then). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Probably be that I'm more of a sponge for this year... My contributions will probably be a knack or twist on things being demonstrated rather than being able to outright lead a session. Happy to do a walk in, I've done that in good weather and it's a pleasant walk on field edges from the south...

I know what you mean, not picked up anything last year... and my skills were slim enough already. Most of what I'm interested in comes up somewhere in the book. Should be good. Let me know if you have any courses in mind. I'm thinking these will crop up as 'who can't show the others' in meet...

Hey, been a long time! I really like the idea of following a set of skills throughout the year. Though I already know I can't make some of the meets, I can do January. Already replied on FB, will look for the thread and add my name there too. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Hennessy Hammock Underquilt/insulation?

No worries. I'm 6'4" as well - I went for the full sized UQ. It is too warm in the summer but I just put a mat between the layers and sleep with a light blanket or opened bag then. I'm sure Matt would do a full length version with lighter insulation if you wanted something you can use for more...

Advice on 4 season sleeping bag

Hi Nagura, you mentioned hammock sleeping in particular - are the cold spots on you back, sides, front? I've gone the way of a long winter under-quilt by UKHammocks and a PHD bag I got for a steal on the 'bay. If I didn't have the PHD bag (for regular camping too), then I'd have gone for a...
