My first go at a knife..

I’ve seen that done a few times. But 6he sheep I’m skinning are wild soay sheep that are used to graze an area of costal ground as conservation grazers. We have to thin them out to keep a healthy population every now and again. They are very good eating, they get their minerals from eating...

My first go at a knife..

I did it with a tung based oil, which has left a very matte finish. I would have liked to have had something with a bit more sheen although perhaps not full gloss.

My first go at a knife..

To show off the wood that i'm selling I made a handle for a Brisa skinner. I've always wanted a dedicated skinning knife as I do a fair few sheep and deer. I was pleased with the result for a first time.. The best of the yew is still drying but this bit i've had lying around for a while still...

    Knife Blanks

Not sure what you mean, I didn’t mention £200. I mentioned I had 200 tons of wood. I would sell £200 worth of wood as that would be worth while, I just can’t go selling individual blanks here and there. I just don’t have the time for all the posting and packing and responding to messages etc...

    Knife Blanks

Unfortunately I won’t have the time to sell retail it will be too time consuming selling lots of small orders, this is just a side line to my main business which keeps me pretty busy as it is. So I’m looking for retailers, I know it means I will sell for less but if I’m selling in bulk that will...

    Knife Blanks

    Knife Blanks

Hi, I have a lot of wood, over 200 tons in fact, I'm going to be selling Knife Blanks, Pen Blanks and other blanks for turning. I'm looking for a retailer or two to sell these. I have a couple of retailers interested but in order to make the investment pay off I'm looking for a few more outlets...

    Rewilding

It would be nice to think that we could look after the animals we have a little better rather than bringing in new ones. I can’t believe they want to reintroduce lynx which have been extinct here for I think 700 years and yet the Scottish wildcat is on the brink of extinction. We need to get our...

Which 5-10 staples to carry to make multiple dishes?

Don't forget chorizo. A good quality one will keep at room temperature for weeks, it just gets drier and more dense. You can eat it cold like jerky, or chop it into soups and stews and it provides paprika heat and spice too.

    A vision of hell

Agreed Santaman, and with the government saying we need to build thousands of new homes there is also the issue of where to put them. Personally I'd build on the green belt rather than see development jump over it and into the countryside proper.

    Helle Harding.......

I have had a harding for 6 years, its a very good knife, I have used it for gralloching and skinning deer and filleting fish and once to dispatch an injured deer at the side of the road. It has lasted well and shows no real signs of wear appart from the hole in the top of the sheath to retain...
