    Irish Get to getter

I'm gonna have to say I can go provisionally only as the completion date of our house purchase is gonna be the end of july so I won't know until much closer to the time. Had a great weekend in cavan just past and I have a nasty feeling I won't be getting another chance for a long time with...

    Honey

I suffer anaphylactic shock from traces of peanuts. I should carry an adrenaline injection and antihistamines (not always though..like now!) and the last time I had a reaction was on the curry mile in manchester last summer. Quite scary but not as violent a reaction as I used to have. I can...

    Money saving... !

Great site.... I'm certainly gonna use its advice over the few months (years?) as my girlfriend and I just went sale agreed on our first house. No more bushcraft related 'presents' in the post for me! I think the credit card info will come in very handy

    Irish Get to getter

I'll hunt out the sheet no. tonight but for now here is a multimap view of the area. The general area is Lower Lough Erne (the northern-most lough, very irish!) Looks a bit dull from this with no detail but get a hold of the map and its great looking. Even better in the flesh too :biggthump...

    Irish Get to getter

Date sorted then? Happy days..... Where to though? I've been thinking about the Erne system. Its a great spot for everything and covers a massive area. Glenveagh sounds good but maybe a bit more difficult to access for all parties...... The Erne system is a good halfway point for people...

    Irish Get to getter

Good idea NB..... how about some other rules? Fire by friction only, gather as many resourses as available, no stoves etc...... go all chimp-like and primitive! How would the weekend starting friday 9th July suit. It can be a bit hairy in parts of the north leading up to the 12th which would...

A couple of months wait is fine with me too. A scout campsite would be dead on, but.... think we should throw a few suggested areas about? Yer Naughtiness, can you think of anywhere up north that'd do? Probably limit it to Fermanagh, Armagh and Down areas for ease of travel.

    Irish Get to getter

Sounds dead on to me...I'm in. I know a great spot in Cavan for camping/fishing where nobody seems to mind a fire.....but thats it as far as Mexico (south of the border) is concerned. You have any ideas James?

How does Joe Public perceive bushcrafters?

I've never had a problem and more to the point couldn't give a monkeys what joe public thinks of me, whether I'm fully geared up for trip somewhere or merely picking plants or whatever on a dander up the hill. Most people are used to seeing DoE groups, hikers, ramblers etc so why are we any...

    Trout Fishing Advice

Had a great trip...no trout unfortunately despite using your advise guys. Price is up to a £5 for both trout permits and pike permits, available from the watersports shack. The loch is now stocked and I was told they are having great difficulty with the large numbers of pike munching the...

Anyone got any good Hayfever remedies?

Made a mistake............I've taken that many different brands I thought zirtek was the one I take but its not. Telfast (containing fexofenadine) is the brand name and I get it on prescription. Pretty large tablets compared to other brands but work great!

Anyone got any good Hayfever remedies?

I've tried most and Zirtek work best for me from the commercially available ones. Triludan used to do the job but were taken off the market cos they caused liver or kidney damage when you drank pineapple juice with them or something bizarre like that. :yikes: I necked loads of them over the...

What combination of edged tools do you use?

S'pose as people are mentioning what they use I will too as I started the poll! Trusty GBSFA, 7" Custom Leuku, Laplander folding saw, Custom 3 1/4" puukko. Although its hard leaving behind my swiss knives, multitool and other fixed blade knives though I've found they don't get used. I like...

What combination of edged tools do you use?

Haha, thought you might take the lot NB! Nope, think the Cavehill expedition was a once off cos of the snow! To many numpty heads up there with pitbulls and crossbreeds looking for badgers to fight! Just back from a week in the Trossachs in scotland and a great 3 days hiking into a forest to...

What combination of edged tools do you use?

    Thanks for that Adi :biggthump

What combination of edged tools do you use?

Hmmm, bit of an oversight there  maybe include that in the second option? Could a mod make a change to the poll as I can't seem to change the choices? I'd also added in one at the bottom which was 'All of the above plus more than one of any of the options!!' which didn't come out. If that...
