    Clikstand Titanium

Hi I am having a bit of a cull on my stoves and brew kits etc and I came acoss my old Clikstand in titanium. I was going to put it up for sale or trade but I have no idea what its worth. I do know they were pretty hard to come by in this country and were quite sought after but that is some time...

    Using vans as family cars

Just be aware that when changing from car insurance to van insurance (even if its useed as a car) some insurers wont transfer your no claims bonus. I Have a Nissan Almera Tino with rear seats removed and its big enough for everything I need, Including travel boxes for my birds of prey.

    Bialaddin lamp. Whats it worth?

I just came across this old Bialaddin lamp in the shed. I dont need it so I'm planning on selling it but dont know what its worth. Its obviously old but seems to be in reasonably good nick considering its age. The glass is clean and totally free from cracks or chips. The mantle is burst so I...

    Variations of cooking an egg

We used to have Tattie eggs. Cut the top off a reasonably large potato. Scoop out enough potato to make room for the egg. Crack the egg into the potato and stick the top of the potato back on using 3 or 4 small splinters of wood. Place the potato in the embers of a fire for about ten minutes and...

    Dealing with cows!

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you on that one. About two years ago I was trampled while going through the field behind my house. 3 broken ribs and a fractured skull was the outcome. The thing is, I have or should say 'had' no fear of them as I had worked on and around farms for years. And...

    less kit

Your kit is very similar to mine other than the sleeping bag. I use a 2/3 season even in winter. I get away with this by filling my aluminium water bottle with hot water, stuffing it into a pair of socks and throwing it down the bottom of my sleeping bag just before hitting the sack. In the...

    The dreaded midge

Well its getting near the time of year again when the dreaded midge feeds viciously on us sweet blooded ones. I was wondering what everyone used to keep them at bay. I've tried most of the usual suspects including the 'skin so soft' stuff that a lot of people swear by. I've had varying degrees...

    Pressure Stoves

My favourite 'old' stove is the svea123 without question. Bombproof and runs for about an hour flat out on 100ml of petrol. A wee bit heavy for the lightweight backpackers but I think its worth the extra weight, if purely for the 'gadget factor':D Some info here...
