Great Pics Riam and honest writeup Dave. My own head is often my biggest enemy on trips. I even need a couple of days to acclimatise on family holidays. I'm looking forward to picking everyone's heads at the next meet on lessons learnt, things that worked, things that didnt.

Holidays are at a premium at the moment but I am slowly building my skill set and kit to join a trip in the next few years.

I'll hopefully be able to make some of the meets from October. Whaley Bridge is just up the road from me, there are some nice spots around there.

A lot of trail runners use Kinesio tape for blister prevention. The tape is porous, the glue heat activated and the tape can adhere for days. I have a roll but have not used it in anger yet.

I use Dachstein mitts in the winter with a pair of goretex overmitts if I'm using my hands a lot. I find snow sticks to the gloves like velcro but the insulation is good as I never feel any damp coming through.

There's a nice little site in Grindlow to the south of Edale. It's been a few years since I stayed there but they had a brazier for the use of campers. They might accommodate a woodburner. http://www.derbyshirehills.co.uk/

I like the look of the huaraches. It's good to see them in use on the trail. I wear Merrell Trail Gloves for running with the odd short stretch barefoot at the end of my runs. I've been thinking of making/getting a pair of huaraches to go minimal. you can get kits from Xero Shoes and they have...

I use Motion-x which uses free OSM topographical maps and the Memory Map free app and download the OS topo tiles as and when I want them like BareThrills. I find myself using the Motion-x more often now in conjunction with 'Where's the path' for waypoints/routes creation and a paper map/compass.
