    Snow shovels in Scotland

I have a proper snow shovel I brought back from Canada, bit large to keep in the car though. For the car I have an Ortovox unbreakable avalanche shovel, wonderful bit of kit, very light, strong and colapsable. Bought mine two years ago from here...

    Gloves

I have a pair of Outdoor Research arete gloves - they are stunning, keeping my hands warm down to about -40. My better half has poor circulation so, based on my experience with mine over the past 10 years, I bought her some. First time I've actually heard her complain that her hands were too hot!

    Been a little busy lately

My only comment so far, only because it bugged me, was the use of Jepg instead of jpeg or even jpg on the landscape tips page - http://www.waylandscape.co.uk/html/digital_landscape_photography_.html not sure if it is just me though. Other than that I'm loving it. :)

    Swedish or Norwegian Winter Boots

I know it's an old post (ie don't shoot me for its resurection!) but McAleer sell them the Nokian Naali boots. I have the Kaira ones which are similar (they have the removable felt liner) and they're half the price of the Naali ones. Their website is...

    Hand cream

Wow, lots of replies. I think that making my own sounds like a good plan, particularly like the sound of the honey and olive oil. Not allergic to lanolin so wonder if I could mix that in too... I've tried the l'ocitane stuff, my other half swears by it too, worked better than most but still...

    Hand cream

I've tried the various ones of that (think there are 3) and none seem to do it for me. The other problem I have is that I hate having greasy palms :(

    Hand cream

With winter coming along I'd like to get some opinions; what hand cream works? I spend quite a lot of time outside, I deal with chemicals and end up washing my hands lots when I go to places like hospitals. As a consequence my hands are now wonderfully dried out, to the extent that nearly all...

    Preparedness, do any practise it?

I bought mine on ebay last year, 5kg was about £10 plus postage (I collected) IIRC. Worked wonderfully, didn't re-freeze either.

    Preparedness, do any practise it?

I use calcium chloride (CACL) instead of normal salt, gives a lower freezing temp (about -25 IIRC)

    Paramo

I was a goretex lover for quite a few years, always looked at alternatives but kept bottling it. Then one day I took the plunge and bought Paramo - boy was I happy, it did what it said on the tin. First I had the Aspirant smock, then the cascade(?) trousers and a taiga fleece. Then after a while...
