Home Office announces plans for Offensive Weapons Bill

So do I. All the people that I knew to own pistols are still shooting though, they're just doing it slightly differently. But I get your point.

Home Office announces plans for Offensive Weapons Bill

The way I'm reading is slightly different, I'm reading Blade, Handle, and Mechanism as individual parts. I agree with kepis, we don't actually know what the legislation's going to say yet, we need to wait and see.

Home Office announces plans for Offensive Weapons Bill

I've always assumed that the vast majority of knife crime is carried out with kitchen knives already, whenever the police show pictures from weapons seizures it's usually: one machete, two sharpened screwdrivers, a homemade knuckleduster, and Sabatier's back catalogue... I haven't seen any...

    Reading Glass Fire Lighting.

43° isn't that far North, most of Europe is more northerly than that (Bilbao and Marseille are both at pretty much 43°), making fire with a magnifying lense/parabolic mirror is perfectly viable way above 43° latitude.

    Best bargain watches?

They come in all sorts of colour options too and work well with NATO style straps. There's also a couple of metal cased versions with bracelet style straps if that's more your thing. Awesome watches, highly recommended. Just don't wear it if you're visiting Guantanamo...

    Backpack comparison - please advise

Very late reply I know, but just wanted to add another level of complication. Karrimor (the cheap nasty one) also do an "extreme" range, which is actually pretty good, I've had a pair of their merino long John's for a good three years now and they're still in good condition. The problem with...

    Planning UK Walking Adventure Ideas

Oh wait, I think I made the initial mistake here, I read South Downs as South West, you read South West as South Downs, we're both just as right as we are wrong, I need more coffee! Apparently the official mileage for the South West Coast Path is 630, six times the length of the South Downs...

    Planning UK Walking Adventure Ideas

I'm relatively certain that the South Downs way is considerably shorter than 650 miles, however, the South West Coast Path is ;)

    Planning UK Walking Adventure Ideas

That's an awesome list of walking routes, not sure how many would fit your criteria of "mini expedition" though: for example the South West Coast path is about 650 miles, most of which are pretty steep, definitely not something I'd want to tackle in any kind of "bushcraft" style. How much time...

I've never visited Caen locks, but I have been to Marple junction, which was the first place that sprung to mind when I posted "mostly downhill", the canal in Marple is really downhill (viewpoint dependent obviously). 60 miles from source to sea sounds like a lovely three or four day trip.
