Why do Sweden and other Nordic countries feature so heavily in British bushcraft?

Hi Not posted as a complaint. In fact far from it. I'd love to hear your views on why Scandinavia has such an impact on bushcraft in Britain. I mean in terms of techniques (eg axe carving) and equipment (eg Swedish surplus and Scandinavia knives). Is it that the British have lost their own...

    what does trolling mean ?

That's my take on it. As in "trolling through the post". Always thought it was a derivation of trawling (the fishing method) but could easily be wrong.

    what do you think?

We bought the f1 stove 3 or 4 years ago and it's great. Can't remember the stats of the top of my head but definitely in the same league as the msr pocket rocket. Of course if you have an f1 lantern 8 I've no idea...

Bush-craft Quotes (please add your own)

What we, uh, "re-quire" is that you get your god-damn asses up in them woods. Sometimes you have to lose yourself 'fore you can find anything. Goddamn, you play a mean banjo. All from the same film but still relevant! :0)

    Birds

Also if you see a bunch of hardcore birdwatchers staring at something don't be afraid to ask what they've seen. I've done this lots and have never been met with anything other than politeness and often a quick peek through a scope or bins. I like to know what I've seen rather than know all the...
