    A small collecton of skulls

The jaw on the right side was completely detached when I found it. Hence the picture showing it's 'good side'. Z

    A small collecton of skulls

    About 5 inches long.

    A small collecton of skulls

There was some grey fur nearby. I will have a look next time I pass through to see if there's any teeth.

Help me find some new music

Check out KEXP on YouTube. They have a really eclectic mix of music and do live sets that remind me of the Old Grey Whistle Test. I have been exposed to all kinds of stuff through them. I have learnt that I don't need to understand the language to enjoy the music. Z

    A small collecton of skulls

I haven't ”collected" this; I just took a picture and left it in the woods. I have an idea what it is but can anyone more knowledgeable say for sure?

    Old Hatchet... What to do?

The stamp should read "Eagle Edge Tool Co". They became part of Brades, I believe. Nice little hatchet. Z

    Mugolio

Mugolio looks like fun. I have just set a reminder for March to go and forage some green pine/fir cones. Z

Tilley x246b vs Tilley Guardsman vs classic Vapalux

I have a Vaporlux. One difference is that the mantle is not a bag that is supported only at the top, it's a tube that is supported at each end. I believe this may make them less prone to damage in transit. With careful handling, I had one mantle that lasted for ten years! Z

Stupidly Simple bug oil and pine tar soap.

I have been using Nordic Summer since running out of the Stupidly Simple stuff. It seems similar but with less citrus notes. It seems to keep feeble weak-willed English bugs at bay, but the one time I took it north of the border, the wind was keeping the wee biting blighters grounded so I can't...

    Kuksa

I feel your pain. I have come to believe that some kuksas (kuksae?) are destined only ever to hold peanuts. That being said here's my two penny worth. The splits occur at certain places. So be careful with the axe near where the handle joins the bowl. And leave extra thickness at the side...

Which bushcraft/outdoor/survival/camping/hiking Youtube channels do you subscribe to?

That's too many YouTube channels to check out. I start off researching how to tie a knot and end up wasting hours keeping up with the latest installment of someone's personal life/ outdoor business/ spiritual journey. I only found Bushcraft Bear because a volcano popped up near his home, now...

    Spots of Time

All of the above plus: Getting unexpectedly lost in an area you know well. Finding (noticing) a new plant, fungus or something. Watching the sky go by through the tops of the trees.

    Handle style question

I made one at the Bushcraft show a few years back. The handle is really uncomfortable for tasks that require a strong grip; especially the twisted part. Oddly it has become my go to knife for cutting leather. I have heard them described as a "viking knife" or a "viking woman's knife...

    Raindrop route tracker map thing!

That's fun. If I drop the raindrop in front of my house then it ends up in the Severn and off to Bristol. But if I drop it just one field away behind the house, it ends up in the Trent and off to Hull. Z
