Planning Can anybody recommend a Canoe travel company in Sweden?

Hey everybody, I decided to book a trip in Svartälven with Vildmark i Värmland. They have great information on their site, a planned route, and its easy to rent anything you need. I figure it's a good start for my first multi-day canoe trip! The trip is the first week in July - do you think...

Planning Can anybody recommend a Canoe travel company in Sweden?

The Puttgarten - Rødby route! I was inspired by The Man in Seat 61 (a great website for train travel in Europe). You can get the whole train route from Hamburg to Copenhagen for only 30 Euros if you book a few weeks in advance!

Planning Can anybody recommend a Canoe travel company in Sweden?

Hello friends! This year I have decided to fulfil my lifelong dream and make a solo canoe trip to Sweden! My experience: I completed a Canoeing Level 3 certificate, but that was over ten years ago. Since then I have only been out a handful of times on very calm rivers. I am comfortable with...

Fungi Foray South of London Next Weekend?

Hello everybody! This is a long shot, but I'm looking to do some Mushroom hunting somewhere south of London, on the morning of Saturday October 22nd. The motivation is that I'm driving down to Seven Sisters to go for a walk for the day, and I'd love to loop in some fungi hunting too. We...

Constructing a willow bender in Norfolk - need a supplier

Thanks Toddy, that's really useful. I've sent him an email. The photos on his website are incredibly beautiful. I've also been advised that hazel is much better than willow for building benders. I'm not quite sure why, I always thought they'd be pretty much the same. I've got in touch with the...

Hello BushcraftUK! I am constructing a willow bender for an event at my sister's house in Norfolk. The event is on 30th September. I'm trying to find a place to get some large willow poles to do the construction with. I'm not sure of the exact lengths and numbers I need, but I can figure that...

Help on ID - Amethyst Deciever

I have found what I believe is Amethyst Deceiver (laccaria amethystina) from reading forum posts on here, Roger's mushrooms, and Wikipedia, and wanted some help on the identification: It has a hollow stem (/ a very small hole running through the centre) The stem is fibrous and not straight...

    Money in Africa

Hi all, My Africa plans are going nicely, I am now wondering how to take my cash. I've opened an account with Nationwide who apparently do good rates on withdrawing from ATMs. Have also got one with Barclays who seem to have a good presence in Africa. Couple of questions: 1) I am thinking of...

    Spit Roasting Pig

We were thinking of spit roasting a small pig or half-pig over coals, I am wondering a) Anybody has tried this? Is a reflector like this necessary / recommended? b) Advice on cost of a pig / source? I am in Oxford and was hoping to walk into the covered market butchers, but I am worried they...

    Lightweight Tent

Sizewise: for enough space for two (very tall) 20 year olds. You've all said what I was thinking! A tent with outer will be a sauna in the mornings, and good idea to take off the outer. But then it is no more less secure or less private than a tarp with a mozzie net sleeping bit, so might as...

Heads up, on TV now, more4!!

That film could do without Alec Baldwin, he makes a solid effort to go through as big a range of emotions and acting styles in a short a time as possible when he's on screen!
