    Cold Weather Advice

you should be toasty! how thick is your foam mat? I find that some head support helps a little, a balaclava can be useful to take the draft off your face and stop you from burying your head in the bag. Also be aware that having too many layers on in the bag can stop heat getting into the bags...

    roe deer

Hi guys! I was wondering if any of you have seen a lot of roe deer around lately? I was out for walks in three small woods that are close to one another on consecutive days last week, the first time a buck and doe, the second a buck and doe, and the last a solitary buck. Is it a busy time of...

    Bushcraft v.s. Survival

survival for me is, well, surviving outdoors... bushcraft, for me, is enjoying outdoors! I think the boundary between the two disappears when you enjoy surviving outdoors- take the '5 items' challenge for example!

    Fish can hurt you.

evil weavers! caught one at brid pier when I was younger, seen a few rock pooling too. Most of the perch family (inc. bass) have the same spiny fins and sharp gills. Pike obviously have teeth pretty much any place in their mouth, you can cut yourself very easily even when chinning them out...

best way to rig a square tarp in high wind and heavy rain???

any suggestions? using two trekking poles, 6 pegs and as much 2mm cord as you want. I was thinking pegging a corner down windward, and the opposite corner with a pole on the leeward side with a ridgeline inbetween, peg the other conrners down and have two guys pegged off the front pole...

    Fussy eater with one trangier

lentils, noodles and spaghetti cook relatively quickly :) theres also porridge, you can buy the flavoured ones for variety. If you can be bothered you can dehydrate your own stuff like fruit and veg, which you could add to noodles etc. Same goes for meats too, even fish. A couple of ziplock bags...
