    Hi all, cheers for the comments! After reading these I went out and plucked the suspected shot wound - found no entry hole what so ever! unless it is a lot smaller than i imagined; but even so, there was no blood; evidence of bleeding; or even bruising! :confused: I will have another look...

    hi all, driving back onto my drive today i was confronted with this: ^^ this wasnt blood -so i think. There was only this staining on the feathers - nothing on the actual body so after a bit of a play around with it, i so no obvious signs of cat, or gun, or anything...

    My cousing has just returned from Crete, studying Bee behaviour. And has came across the problem of this shrub... ANY ideas on its' ID would be greatly appreciated!! (p.s. the study involved netting random flowers on the tree; as seen in the photos)

    sounding quite alright, although my 2 mates are anything but into anything bushcraft -meaning i get the usualy friendly grief off them!! And i had considered talking my dd tarp, would be much more efficient getting that up for 1 night rather than putting my tent up and down!

    1, Birch - easiest to tell if its downy or silver by looking at the branches. southey's example is good for that. I just remember, 'Downy = uppy (branches)'. Daft, but it works for me. and Silver birchs bot. name is Betula pendula. Pendula = pendulum (sp?) or weeping, reffering to the branches...

    Hi, can I just add; the 'Latin' names should really be reffered to as 'botanical' (as previously stated), or 'scientific' names. This is because many botanical names are, incidentally, Latin. But alot are either Greek based i.e Lamium, and some have been named after certain people. But the...
