Can anyone reccomend any good father and son bushcraft courses. Im on the Wales/England border in Gloucestershire. Im considering it as a Christmas gift for my lad!
I delivered my 3rd child. She was a whopping 9lb 4oz and it took my wife less than 15mins. My word of warning is they are slippy as hell when they come out. Try not to drop them. Shortly afterwards the first responder arrived, followed by 2 men in an ambulance, then the midwife, and another...
we had a firelighting demonstration on the survival training bit of a charity expedition and the poor man really struggled getting things going with a lot of the ways he was showing us, whoops, talking later he was very experienced and showed us a variety from all natural through to things you...
Hi as many of you know im going to medicine hat in canada for two weeks and looking into it found out it was blackfoot confederacy territory. I know the confederacy was made up of 4 different tribes and i was wondering if anyone knew where i could go to find out more about them while i was...
Its typical just days after i post saying i have never seen a wild boar i come back from walking the dog to find two in the garden. I have taught our dog to go home and wait in the garden for me which i sent her to do at the end of the walk. Luckily someone had seen the boar and followed them to...
found this when doing survival training in sweden they always advised to get ice rather than snow as there is so little return because of how much air there is in the snow
although id imagine it takes more energy to melt the ice??
i have a gas stove and billy cans may just get some ration packs for me but i want something simple and foolproof for SWMBO as she will probably have little one with her
Hi im doing a survival kit for mine and SWMBO's car due to our driving to work on dodgy roads and one of the things i wanted to incorporate are self heating ration packs. Does anyone know a good value place to get these and can reccomend any that a child would like?
Whilst alas i have never seen a wild boar i have seen the damage they do along all the roads i drive to work. Im neither for nor against the cull as they do not have any impact on my life....
however i would fully back a reintroduce the mammoth campaign for the forest... great tourist...
Thanks for all the replies ive no intention of sleeping in it overnight but would love to do something like that for the little one to have an experience in it
Experienced -24 overnight in a sleeping bag and bivvy which wasnt designed for it and i wouldnt reccommend it everyone was getting up every few hours to run and warm up a bit. Doing stuff during the day wasn't a problem with layers in fact had to keep taking layers off
it snowed so much had to abandon my car a mile from home and walk and i was still smiling and singing all the way.... many others were not so cheerful. Considering i crashed my new car on black ice on saturday and had to borrow SWMBO's you'd have thought it wouldnt still make me so cheery...
When i went to Sweden this february we made a snow hole to sleep in for one of the survival nights. Basically piled up a load of snow on the first few days waited for it to settle and freeze then excavated it. Im taking my lad to Canada in january and would like to do the same (albeit on a...
