    Snow snow snow!!

Is that plus 12 inside the tent just from the candle lantern? That's surprisingly warm considering the outside temps!

    Snow snow snow!!

It's a serious issue. A snow sealed tent can kill you. If you expect that much snow, you have to get up every couple of hours, knock the snow off and make sure the vents are open or else you risk suffocating.

    Insulating jacket

Modern down jackets are usually water resistant to some extent. Ive got a Mountain Hardwear Subzero Jacket, and the shell is made of Conduit SL, which is the same material they use on their bivi bags. Ive had no problem with it getting soaked. The problem with down IMO, is that its too warm for...

Wild camping around Sweden / Norway

European brown bears have been conditioned for thousands of years to avoid humans. I've read some Swedish statistics and apparently almost every incident have involved hunters and their dogs. Either the bears were.shot and wounded or cornered by the hunting dogs.

    What do you sleep in

I only camp during the fall/winter/spring. I wear a set of Helly Hansen Lifa baselayers. I always bring a set, that i only use for sleeping. Its essential that my clothes be dry, when i crawl into the bag. If its cold, ie. around freezing, i wear some wool socks and a beanie. If its real cold...

    Knife question

You could also take a file to the spine of your knife and square it slightly or remove the coating, so it'll have edge.

    Where to go in Sweden

Take a look at Glaskogan National Park. It's pristine forested wilderness with many lakes to paddle on and big enough for long distance hikes. Swedish Lapland, ie. Kungsleden, is generally speaking more of a tundra/sub-arctic kind of wilderness.

    Went Garfish fishing today!

I definitely agree. Theyre amazingly delicious. The green bones dosent bother me one bit. The silk is great. So simple, yet so effective. And it never snags on seaweed like a hook does. Theyre sold in packets of 10. Do you use reel/rod or fly for seatrout? Ive gone after them a couple of...

    Went Garfish fishing today!

Its Garfish season! The season starts in late april, where hordes of Garfish migrate to the coastal waters to spawn. Thats European Garfish (Belone Belone) and not the freshwater Gar that my american friends think of. They're great game fish! They strike with aggression, leap out of the water...
