    axe or large knife

    if its a choice between a hatchet and a big knife, I'm for the big knife , much more versatile in my opinion, but if your talking about a small axe of say a 2- 2 1/2 lb head , thats pretty hard to beat for forest use.

    for some applications i like serrations, on the knives I make or modify for myself I use different size chainsaw files to make them and they work great.

    carrying meths

    I have had good sucess with the plastic bottles sold for carrying spirits,{ drinking type , that is], over here you see them in thrift stores all the time and they are very inexspensive. I use a mil. surplus trangia and for its needs they are ideal, something to consider.

    Anybody has any experience with Atlama combat boots ?

    I have a pair and they seem to be very good boots ,if there is a down side it's that even after long break in they remain stiff in places, but for tromping the bush, no real complaints other than that.

    I have 3 of the military stoves and absolutly love them, when i use mine i "put them out" by covering with empty tuna can then replace lid when stove is cool, never had any lid sticking troubles since.

    how do you carry yours?

    my knife is on my belt, but my bolo or machette goes across my chest. this allows me to draw and cut in one motion. similar to how a katana sword is employed. I can return it to the sheath by feel, no need to look. this has proved a exellent system for me, over 20 years now.

    New Invention ?

    for my camp water bags I got several of those mylar bags wine comes in and sewed bags with straps ,[ looped], in all the corners so I can hang them. hold from 1 to 2 gallons , work great , I've been using them about 3 years now , pretty durable, and except for my time sewing bags, free.
