    Bushmoot 2015 - a big thanks

First off - a great big thanks (again) to all who helped me deal with a potentially serious tyre problem on Wednesday morning as I was looking to leave; I would have been in a much worse position without all you aid. Thanks to Tony and the Mods for organising the whole thing and keeping things...

<peeps in just to see, and peeps out again> I'll peep back in later this evening when home from work to see who remembers me (the original) Womble

The return of the Womble - please help me regain my bushcraft mojo!

I've been out of here too long, and even managed to miss the moot last year. Well hopefully that's over and done with. But... I'm rusty; I haven't been out very much at all and need to rehone and reinvigorate my skills. So - suggestions welcome! And - it's good to be back.

    I'm back!

...not that many would have missed me though...:) I decided to take a break back in September, and I lasted until now before needing another bushcrafty fix! So.... what's new? Womble/John

Is there going to be a BCUK "Christmas meet" like we had last year?

The title says it all, really. I thought that the winter moot last year was something really special, and everyone seemed to have a great time.

    Sleeping bag confusion

Ok - I'll admit to new being a bit confused. I was camping out this last Saturday night in West Hampshire/Dorset border area. It wasn't that cold out (nowhere near freezing) but there were some blustery winds and some rain, but I took with me my Nanok -10 Endurance bag. And was cold for...

    All Change!

Wow, what a couple of months it's been for me. I'm remortgaging the flat - to get out of an endowment black hole - and as a result of it having to be surveyed it's tidier than it's been at any point over the last 12 years! As a further result, my kitchen's clean, I haven't had a microwave meal...

Where has the Nanook sleeping bag offer thread gone?

Yesterday I was reading it, this morning I had been denied access, and now I can't find it at all.

Does anyone know any cheap suppliers of Hessian sacking?

For a little project I'm involved in, I'm hoping to get hold of some hessian. To be honest I have little ideas of prices, so any information anyone has would be helpful. It's needed to cover the exterior of a Milletts teepee.

    A new set of courses

I was looking at the Butser Hill Ancient Villiage website a couple of minutes ago, and saw that they did day courses there. Apologies if this has been shown before, but here's the link to the course pages: http://www.butser.org.uk/iafse02_hcc.html

Suggested foods for a Backwoods camp demonstration

Hi folks In early May I'm doing a demonstration backwoods camp with a couple of my Scouts for our district open day. I'm looking for interesting and cheap foods that can be cooked on an open fire or griddle - using if possibly no more than a mess tin (or the grill itself) if possible. What...

    What can I do... without?

Inspired by seeing only part of Robs thread title, which go tme thinking. Out of the kit you normally take out with you, is there one thing that you continually think "why do I take this with me?" I know (and others will confirm that this is so) that I take far too much stuff with me when...

Ed vs Spencer - the Bushcraft edition...?

Ed Vs Spencer is a show on Sky1 on wednesday evenings. In it the two "friends" challenge each other to perform a particular task every week. This week they had to survive in the wilderness (of a Wiltshire wood) for as long as possible (with just a knife and the clothes on their back... sound...

Outdoor shows in the next couple of months

There are two shows coming up in February and March, the first at Olympia in London, and the second the Outdoor adventure show at the NEC. Will BCUK be having a presence at either/both?
