Oh, those angel wings scare me a bit. Hopefully they don't look as much like oysters in the flesh... What do they smell like - if it's possible to describe

There's not much to a mushroom when you dry it.

I dried brown birch bolete a couple of years ago and put it in a soup - never again. Total waste of time and effort. Dried some chanterelles yesterday and looking forward to using them and seeing if the flavour gets stronger - apparently it does after drying. Fingers crossed

    identifying mushrooms

Another thumbs up fot the river cottage book. It's simple, has a key and it's fun to read. If you can't find the fungus your trying to id in that book - just leave it. Defo a good idea to go out with others though. I've studied hard for 4 years now and it's only the last 2 seasons I've been...

    Fungi Foraging in Scotland

You beat me to it Mary. Yeah, the forays are great but some folks do look down their noses when you tell them that you are only really interested in what you can eat. My experience is though, is that those who know the most are just pleased to help anyone who shows an interest in any area of...

Mountain Warehouse Merino Tops - Opinions

I like them - don't have the base layer from mountain warehouse but do have one of the long sleeved 'shimano' tops. They are very good and much the same as more expensive versions. The only thing I have noticed is that they aren't as soft as say icebreaker but for a fraction of the price it's a...
