A woodlore course (Ray Mears's company) that is set is sunny Scotland. It's the last of their bushcraft courses and leaves you to experience the wonders of being independent in nature, ie, cold, tired and very hungry.
Yes, going with Malks. Last year we did the intermediate course with Nick and Jim from the camp craft course. We were hoping to be able to do the journey man together but Nick is in Lagos and Jim couldn't get a pass from the wife.
It's been a wee while since you put the post on my profile about the pictures, I don't use this forum all that much. How's life? Still got yer axe?
Martin
I did a course with woodlore in 2007 and found it to be up to the usual very high standards. Willow was on that one. The experience I had is what prompted me to book again in 2008.
Not my tread, I was just answering the question the tread posed by Sam which was "are you going on the course".
I won't waste much time with people who didn't like, by the sounds of it, a different course. I'm a big boy now and I'll make up my own mind about how I spend the money I've worked...
I only did this one because the journey man was full and upon reading the kit list I noticed that if you do the camp craft course you can take an axe :)
Back to reality after a cracking week in the woods.
Great course, learned a lot and got some new toys to play with.
Now the only problem is which one do I book next.... hmmmm
I like both and have both in my bag for my week away week after next. If I was trying to cut down on weight I'd ditch the Zebra first though. It's an excellent bit of kit and I love it but the mug is smaller (fit's under my water bottle), lighter and more versatile.
It threw me a bit reading the kit list. On the ones I've done before they all said to take a tent or shelter. This time just a bivi bag. What's the sleeping arrangement?
I'll be going. Just packing my kit, then unpacking, repacking, getting excited :)
Anyone done the course before? I did the fundamental a couple of years ago but I think this one is at a different location and was wondering if it's suitable for hammocks?
Cheers
Martin
