Was bought this book by James Wesley, Rawles for crimbo. It's shaping up to be quite a good read. Just thought I'd post the tip for anyone with smiths vouchers for Christmas

Thanks for the heads-up James, I just hope the book is easier to read than his blog. I shouldn't judge a man on his typesetting skills alone but the big blocks of text and poor spacing made it very difficult to find any meaningful content.

The less said about the DIY Bunker, cheap ammo and body armour ad's the better.

Let us know how it works out.

The book is basically extreme right wing Christian fundamentalist gun porn!

I got that impression from the author's Blog. I know the original poster and am confident in his BS filtering capability, if there's anything worthwhile in the book then he's the chap to find it.

Andy, have you ever thought of a career in the world of book reviews?

The book must be edited much more than the blog, so far only hints of gun porn! Mind-you, i'm only on chapter 3.

Still, reading between the lines, he does have some useful, although, common sense tips, much of which has been recommended on this site - like learning a solid base of skills: woodwork, leather-work, horticulture, welding .... Each household should have two "skills/trades" that they can rely upon etc.

I shall plow on regardless, hopefully i wont get brainwashed along the way!

oddly enough i just finished reading his "patriots" novel, "a story of survival in the up coming collapse" it's crepe.

premise, the US goes base over apex in a socio economic meltdown. so the survivalists all hole up in their armoured ranch, 4 years later the UN invades under the auspices of the puppet presidential regime based in fort knox. so all the survivalists turn into a militia and defeat the combined might of all the worlds armies. they then start sending aid to the resistance movements in switzerland, finland, and somewhere else. several years later europe itself is liberated from the oppresive yoke of the UN/NWO.

the end.

cheers, and.

I never really understand why anyone would want to survive the end of the world.

No one would survive the end of the world, because there would be no where to survive.

Mind you a lot of people have coping measures in place for the end of the world "as we know it".

Not necessarily hunkered down within a reinforced underground bunker with an armoury of weapons, but a bit of an insurance policy never did anyone any harm.

Looking forward to some of the interesting bits from the book Trunks, if you don't feel that you will be ridiculed to much that is :)

Well, I've finished it...

Having read some of the posts above , i checked out the blog site too. I have to say that nearly all of the fundamentalist guff has been edited out of the printed version - good job too.

Most of the information provided seems like common sense to me, some of the basic precautions eg spare candles, batteries etc most sensible people have in "stock" anyway.

Learning two trades to manufacture items for trade seems a good idea as does solar panel battery charger.

However some recommendations seem a bit extreme: hoarding & rotating a massive food stock and stashing diesel all over the place - i suppose it depends on how paranoid you are!

One snippet i found really interesting though, was instead of straying from your house to hunt game, hang up a salt lick and dear will come from miles around, to you.

Anyway, there's my two penneth. Not the best book I've read but does contain some sound advise - good to keep next to the loo - for whichever purpose you see fit.

Can anyone remember the film Red Dawn? US High School kids fighting against a soviet invasion? Rather than storing diesel, it would be good to have a manual pump to take to petrol stations in the UK, unless you were lucky enough to get somewhere remote when the bovine flu/UN invasion( :lmao: ) happened!

But seriously, what else does he suggest Trunksy?

I've read through his blog quite a lot and it is truly mind boggling how horrifically right wing and fundamentalist (with the emphasis on 'mentalist') it is. Theres a lot of useful stuff that feeds in to the wild camping side of things i.e. what to pack in bug out bags etc. helped when looking into what to take for a weekend in the woods and there's other bits and pieces which are useful in terms of self sufficient living etc. down to and including which battery chargers to go for.

Just a shame that it has to have so much in it that is extreme, paranoid, gun toting and republican that gets in the way of a few snippets of decent information.

Glad I've found here though, much more relaxed :D

It's got to be worth watching, see how ridiculous some bits are. And how scarily right some bits seem!

I will have to make time to see that.
