Hi fellas, this is my first post to the forum although i've been reading it for some time. I've been carving a few spoons lately (inspired by some of the members work), two out of birch which I have treated with wallnut oil and the latest one in crab apple wood. I'm really pleased with the latest one and I was wondering how long I should leave it to dry out before i oil it? I oiled the birch ones as soon as they were finished but I've been told this is not best practice.

I'll try to get some pics up tonight when I'm back from work if i can figure it out.
Cheers, Tim

I just drop em in a zip-loc bag for some time with some olive-oil. Works for me. Until carved ready, I keep the projects in the fridge, with a plastic wrap around it.
