As I'm sure many of you did, I just got this from the Woodlore mailing list, so thought I'd share. Chris

"We are pleased to announce that the BBC are repeating Ray's television programme "Trips Money Can't Buy" featuring Ewan McGregor on Wednesday 24th October on BBC2 at 8pm."

Intriguing... I didn't know much about this iPlayer thingy so thanks for that. It's as if the
BBC has been listening to my suggestions, but without telling me, as I've asked them to
show stuff, release it on DVD or make it legally downloadable. Two out of three ain't bad!

I'm now downloading all the necessary gubbins which unfortunately means I have to close
all browser pages for a bit... hope it works though. I like all the other stuff I could have
been downloading as well if I'd known about it!

Blimey it seems to be a long and drawn out palaver of a process what with the upgrading,
downloading and security tweaking. I'm glad my dad recorded it and will send me the
DVD but you know how I like to support new technologies so I'm sticking with it till the
bitter end :D

Also highly amused to see that it's a peer-to-peer system.

I've downloaded 0% so far... ooh 2%. Probably I will have to re-start it later 'today' as it's
a bit late.

But thanks for highlighting this brilliant resource :You_Rock_

Got the iPlayer down last night and watching it again now.

Jodie's right about the updating and then installing this and that.. but it got there in the end.

Quality seems pretty decent for a 485mb download and you can watch it in Windows Media Player rather than the iPlayer (won't work in VLC etc, think it's due to the copyright technology).

Nice :)

I'm intrigued about the fact that it will mysteriously disappear from your library seven days
after watching it. How do they do that... since it's a peer-to-peer thingy I expect they
can sneak in and pinch it back again (mean!) but I'm not entirely sure how that will all
work, rather than it simply stopping playing after a certain date.

Maybe they are speaking figuratively when they say it'll delete from the library... I haven't
watched it yet.

There must be a way of trapping it there somehow :bandit: but it has eluded me.

I would be more than happy to give the BBC money for a proper copy that doesn't whoosh
itself out of my computer with seven days notice :D

It made me upgrade my Windows media player before it would let me download the
iPlayer...

Channel Dave, in advertising its "alpha male mornings" is using a clip from
Extreme Jungle (formerly Trips that money can't buy) so I suspect that this will
be available at some point on Freeview, channel 19.
