Wishing you all the best, these specialists really do know what they are doing, and understand your situation.

My wife is 32 years old and we are going through the concern of possible kidney failure at the moment, and with two children at 2 years and under, but we have hope.

As many have said, keep us upto date, and it is always good to share and talk

Another update. Today the cardiologost’s nurse called to let me know he had seen the results for my carotid ultrasound. She said the artery was reasonably clear and not to worry about it as yet. However he was a bit concerned about something he saw in a (ventral?) vein and would like me to get another blood test before our follow-up appointment. She (the nurse) put in the lab order today and I’ll get the blood drawn early next week. Then the cardiology follow-up is scheduled for about a week before the kidney surgery.

Your choice of procedures is a wise one. Least invasive and least insult to all your other body systems.
Survivorship? You appear to be holding a hand of fairly good cards. Again, that helps a lot.
I played 1/20 odds of dying on the table with my August surgery. I hope you benefit as much as I did.

Lots of luck santaman, hoping for a full recovery.

Must just say on the prostate cancer front, if you are experiencing any male difficulties, dont just think its acceptable go and get yourself tested, a very easy blood test. My father just completed his chemo.

Thanks. I do indeed get a PSA (the test you mentioned) annually.

Do not rely on your PSA result, especially if you are taking medication for your Prostrate, get it examined if you have any symptoms, I know its not a nice thing, but it is worth it in the end. may just be enlarged which is normal depending on age, but well worth a full examination.
I am assuming if you have an annual PSA test the reading is quite low, otherwise is should be every 6 months.

Yeah, the reading is low. And yeah, I also get the more unpleasant check annually. I’m on a lot of meds for diabetes, blood pressure, and cardiac, as well as acid reflux; but none for prostrate.

Latest update: Kidney surgery postponed while they evaluate the carotid/ventricle artery blockage. I had two more tests yesterday (an MRI and an MRA) and am scheduled a follow-up appointment with the neurologist next week. If he’s satisfied with treatment results so far He’ll probably clear me to reschedule the kidney surgery. If not the blockage will take precedence over the kidney.

Thanks again everybody.
