Welcome to North Wood 2017 :)

.

Stocks of prepared firewood are virtually non existent on the middle pitch, I aim to collect and process wood for the communal fire, any help will be most welcome. :)

Although these meets are very relaxed and informal with no real agenda, if anyone attending does need instruction or advice on a particular aspect then please ask either here or at the meet. Our regulars have a wealth of combined knowledge backed up with practical experience, and would be only too happy to share this with you.

We will aim to pitch on the main middle site, this may be updated nearer the time. Parking will be again on CP2. However if ground conditions dictate, just offload at the entrance path to the woods ( see map link below ) and return vehicles to CP1 at the farm, I will update this nearer the time if necessary.
Collecting wind blown and dead standing is allowed this meet if you prefer to have your own small fire, live wood is to remain untouched.

Again I may temporarily up the pitch fee's from £5 per night to £6 for a maximum of two nights per meet.
This is to replace essential communal items and for the occasional hire of power tools such as a brush cutter to clear pitches and enable more pitch choice.

As before, early get in / extra days may be available if enough interest is shown :)

It would be helpful if any TBC's could be firmed up nearer the time to assess a meets viability, thanks.

I still hope to attend but won't know until the week before.
Therefore I have removed myself from the list :(

Would this meet up be accessible for a complete and utter beginner? I have no kit currently so if anybody can point me towards where I should be looking for some basics, that'd be great.

Cheers all and if I can get some stuff, I'll be on board for the Saturday night.

Absolutely, we're all still learning. :)

as as for kit try this place just down the road from you and very popular. http://shop.rti-militarysurplus.com/

If I were you with nothing and knowing even less :) I would buy beg or borrow a small tent, nip down Rti and perhaps get a Brit or Dutch arctic sleeping bag, (winters coming on) and take a look at a Swedish army cook set while your there. No point spending loads at this stage, see what others have, and ask plenty at the meet.

We have a bushcraft car boot at our meets, no doubt there will be some suitable gear pressed upon you! :)

I have done a lot of sorting out of kit now and will have a lot to bring to the car boot everything from shelters, cook kit, packs etc. All the kit is in a variety of styles the classic camping through ex military kit to modern stuff :)
