Hi all

Over the past week, i decided to try and get some bow-drill experience in as i had free time. Im trying to get through as many different woods to learn the differences in techniques.

3 videos below, 2 of which are just Embers, and the third is one being blown into flame.

Hazel on Hazel. Had great difficulty learning the technique, but by far the less taxing and easiest to get once mastered.

Birch on Birch. Not to difficult, but requires more effort than the Hazel with more downward pressure and speed involved.

Unknown source of wood, but by far the most forgiving as i had bad form, lots of downward pressure but didnt take long to get the ember, was easy to blow into flame.

Hope you enjoy and this isnt considered spamming.

Good job!
A little tip, If you make your V notch wider (especially at the top) then it will allow more dust to collect and not spread out around the edges of the drilled hole. Also try to keep the bow level when drilling, I find it helps with the overall act :)
Take it or leave it, but I do enjoy a good friction fire :)
