Axe head

Hiya guys was chopping up some oak a few weeks back when the head to my axe came of :/ dad said he's had it at least 20 years and I wanted to rehandle it and mabye clean up the head a bit?

Any advice and info on the axe itself would be greatly appreciated!

Deffo worth a clean up and re-hang

Hults bruk felling axe. measure the eye and have a look at hultafors or smedburgs hafts


Maybe add a rubber guard if its doing as much splitting as it looks to have done

Looks like it's a Halfruts Bruk axe.

Should be a relatively simple job rehandling it once you've got all the epoxy out of the eye. You can get replacement handles easily enough or make your own from a bit of seasoned ash.

Dads used it for years, now I'm using it loads so I'll defo have a go at making one of them!

You could have that functional or looking like new, how far you want to go is up to you. I would have it shining and shaving.

Measure the old handle and buy the same length

Hafts are sold by overall length and then width and length of the eye

If you need the head cleaned up I can do it for you.

Cover the postage and I'll give it a fresh edge and even polish it up a bit all over if you're interested.
