Hi all,

Only a few months ago it was literally standard practice for me to wander off to the furthest reaches of the farm for half a days de-compression. Well, a new job saw the end to that, and today for the first time in what feels like forever I managed to get up at 0430 and drag my tired and sorry looking body out of bed...

The weather was looking grey and flat, no good for the DSLR, so, bag and rifle in hand I set off across the fields for a bimble.

The skylarks were already up, the deer were plentiful, and the rabbits were doing a great job of hacking through the late-drilled spring barley.

Stumbled across a big patch of Herb Robert, the first time I had seen it on this route which I walk regularly...

Took a well-trodden deer path which lead deeper into some mixed pine and native broadleaf woods...

Never get tired of seeing bluebells...they haven't got much time left during this season so get out and enjoy them whilst you can...

Another first, never see borage here before. Testament to their ability to rapidly self seed and colonise unmanaged ground....

This rabbit was breakfast, stuffed with ramsons and nettle on the side...

Can anyone identify this for me please? Never seen it before...

Set up camp, cooked breakfast and brewed up - it all just tastes so much better outdoors - maybe it's the woodsmoke...

Home is where the hearth is...

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable 4 hours, and some much needed "me" time.

Until next time - take it easy...

Paul.

Cheers guys! Always nice to blow the cobwebs away and just "be" for a time in the wood.

Jaeger - I thought digitalis too by the lead shape, but I've never seen the flower column form like this - come to think of it, I've only ever seen the plant in flower. Will keep an eye on this and see how it grows. Cheers.
