Hi all,

My search function doesn't seem to be turning anything up, so I thought I'd go ahead and start a thread. Now I haven't exactly been a frequent poster around here so while I won't apologise for spending more time in the woods than at the computer, I will say a huge thank you for any advice you good folks might have! :)

So I plan to fly in to Bergen later this month to mooch about the city for a day or so (staying in hotel) then hire a car and explore and camp for three days/nights. I wondered if anybody had any recommended natural sites to see or places to hammock camp in the general area?

Thanks in advance!

In Norway you are allowed to camp practically anywhere in the countryside but the area immediately around Bergen has some restrictions. This is the nearest place I found http://www.mmcamp.no/indexeng.htm

Thanks for the info Dave, much appreciated! The only thing putting me off true wild camping there was the summer fire restrictions and not knowing how widely the "freedom to roam" is actually honoured, otherwise I tend to give recognised camp sites a wide berth. That website should give me something to get going on though. Thanks again, Maple.

About an hours drive inland you'll find Voss...near there is The Opheim lake...the surrounding area is beautiful...thats where we would do our arctic training before heading North...well worth a visit.
