Knife making advice

Hey guys,
i bought a lovely knife blank and the kit to make the handle off of the bushcraft store, i have fitted the scales and am ready to shape the handle (will post pics of the finished product) but before i do so, once i am finished, should i soak the handle in a bath of linseed oil for a few hours or just rub some on? Thanks for the advice!

soak it for a couple of days, and let it dry properly, otherwise when you sheath it the leather will rub off the linseed oil, giving a scuffy finish.

I just put 3 layers on with a cloth. I find soaking it swells the scales so you have to sand them down again and re apply some oil around the tang.

What scales are they

Give it a good soak in linseed oil over night
Let it dry out for at least a day and the put your finish on say beeswax or carnuba wax
