    natural mosquito repellent

I recently watched the film The Way Back, and there is a scene where the hero's are being plaques by mossies until a local gives them what looks like some tree roots to put around their necks, and lo and behold, goodbye mossies. Does anyone know what they could have used, or was it made up for...

    Bushcrafters in London?

I just saw a load of guys, about 4 or 5, in London (Clerkenwell), that I took to be on a bushcraft trip as at least a couple of them were carrying tarps, and one definitely had a crusader cook set strapped to the outside of his pack. Just wandering if anyone on here knows anything about it.

    cryptozoology

I'm sure that I've seen it, as is my brother and my mum. Add to that the keepers I used to know, many of whom have seem something they couldn't explain... So, has anyone on here seen the Surrey Puma or any of the other British Big Cats that we share this island with? Or maybe you think...

    What would you use?

Ah, the 2CV. Forgot about them. I'd own one tomorrow, I love them. As for the caterham 7, great car but possibly not the best for an overland expedition.

    What would you use?

About year ago some friends of mine went off driving round the world, and it got me thinking, what vehicle would I use for such a jaunt. Their vehicle of choice is a VW Camper Van Syncro. I'd not heard of them before I'd met these guys, and by the sounds of it its not proving to reliable, seeing...

What luxuries do you take bushcrafting?

Hi, The title says it all really. What 'unnecessary' luxuries, if any, to you take into the bush? Personally, I take a small radio and some headphones so I can listen to farming today, and I used to take my dog, which although nice was another mouth to feed. Or maybe you think less is more?

"I live without cash – and I manage just fine "

I lived without cash or money of any sort for just over a year, mainly by WOOFing, working for board and lodging through things like Helpex and Diggers and Dreamers, and by Bushcrafting. All I could carry was all that I had. It was lovely and it took me all over the country. Putting aside the...

What calibre do you hunt with

.300 win mag, .243, 22-250, .22lr, 12g, 17hmr .22 air Always used .22 for air rifle, never saw the need to change, not that there is anything wrong with .177. My first air rifle was .22, so I stuck with it, simple as that. I've not brought pellets for years now, but when I did I used accupels.

    Single Bevel Grind?

Hi there, I'm about to start work on my second home made knife, have ordered the steel and am looking into different grinds. The other knife was a scandi grind, and I remembered that years ago I had a knife with a single bevel grind (no, not a Japanese kitchen knife) and I LOVED it, but I never...

    canvas supplier?

Hi, The last time I brought from these guys: http://www.russellandchapple.co.uk/ mainly though because they are just down the road from me. No idea how competitive they are price wise, but their range is very extensive. I was looking for undyed canvas though, so I've no idea about what...

    Canoeing and camping in France

Hi, I've just been invited to two weeks of canoeing and camping in Aquitaine, and was wandering if anyone can advise me on the French attitude to this sort of thing. For some of the trip we will be staying on land belonging to friends, but for the other time we would rather camp wild that book...
