You might be able to find these in architectural salvage businesses.
We have one here in NH USA called "AdMac" where you can find just about anything from old windows, bricks, and nails of every description that they take from buildings slated for demolition.
If you think your bag has the chance of getting damp or wet, then synthetic may be the best choice.
Down is useless when wet and is difficult to dry in the field.
Synthetics are heavier and bulkier but retain more insulating value if damp and are easier to dry out.
When you shovel fluffy snow into a pile and let it set for a day or so, it often takes on a more solid consistency which then allows you to hollow out the pile.
That's a good choice. I think all the models are excellent so the choice is going to depend upon your needs and the environment you are likely to find yourself in.

Time was, huge rafts of lumber were sent down lakes and rivers like this, for commercial operations. They would even set up tents and cooking facilities on the rafts for use by the lumbermen.
I agree with the pizza. This makes an excellent trail food! I also like to bring the fixings for bannock, but I am not sure you are "allowed" to make fires in your area.
A good way to learn is to obtain a book on wild flowers and go from there. I find that flowers are often easy to identify using these books, from which I can go on and learn about the uses of the plant.
