Yea I have a beanie I am Quite sentimentally attached to (last hat my mum bought me). I lost it moving house a few years back and spent ages trying to find a replacement, luckily my wife found it packed away, I was unreasonably pleased :)

What beekeeping related activities did you do recently?

Yeah will snuff a queen, probably the swarm queen as she is unknown My other hives are fine, all my mite treatments are done until I do an oxalic acid vape end of December. One semi-agressive hive but they have produced nearly 2 supers of honey this year

What beekeeping related activities did you do recently?

Yeah tbh it’s a bit late for the queen to get sorted and laying her winter bees. I popped them in a nuc and fed them and will see how they do! Worst case scenario is I combine them with my smallest hive and snuff a queen

What beekeeping related activities did you do recently?

Sometimes you get lucky, the landowner where I keep my bees called me tonight and said ‘I think you have had a swarm there is a massive clump of bees on one of the empty hives’ So I went over and had a look, checked my hives (i inspected them Friday and didn’t think it was one of mine but...

    Kit weight

Do not be embarrassed, it’s an eminently sensible question and actually I am sure a number of members will benefit from the advice and discussion :)

    Kit weight

Have you weighed you dry bags aswell? They loom fairly substantial. I weighed mine as part of a kit realignment exercise last year and was shocked how much they added up. I ditched them for either light weight dry bags or silnylon stuff sacks. Saved myself a over a KG by not using the heavy...

    Generator Integration to House Power

I live in a small village and we have probably 3 or 4 power cuts a month, had one yesterday. I just put the genny on the patio and run an extension lead to the freezer, wifi and telly and use a gas stove for hot water and cooking

    Homestead Failure

Yeah it can I got a pus collection in my foot from stepping on a blackthorn branch in bare feet and snapping off the spike. Had to have it drained by the GP. Awful stuff

    Fox skeleton articulation (attempt!)

Haha thanks! A house renovation, a new baby and various other things have got in the way, so it’s only 2/3rds done! I will finish it one day!

What beekeeping related activities did you do recently?

Housed 2 of them in national hives now from their nucs, never sure whether to chequer board the drawn comb from the nuc with fresh undrawn foundation or to put all the nuc frames as a block in the middle with 3 fresh undrawn frames either side. I don’t know so I have done one way and one the...

What does it have in its Walletsies ?

I have a Swiss card in my wallet but very rarely use it, or my wallet tbh, it lives in my bag just in case I need it. Use cash a lot which just goes in my pocket, or Apple Pay on my phone.
