Is there a "stove" for Dutch Army Canteens?

A possible solution might be to buy another Dutch mug, cut the bottom off, drill some holes and cut a slot and you will have a similar set up as the us army, but a perfect fit for half the price.

    The rabbit stick

What a great thread, I used a rabbit stick when I was a boy, rabbits, birds and mates were fair game. I'm now going to check out what and how to play Aunt Sally. Thanks British Red. Cheers JFW

    Drinking "wild" water

I usually take a couple of litres of water with me and once that has run out, depending on location, I use a milbank bag filter, a sawyer mini and then boil. Never had an issue so far, but where I live we have good fresh spring water from the hills. They even sell it

    Shemagh Mods.

I've looked at these in the past but not bought one yet so not sure of quality, but are aimed at the proper market. They are a good size and price and lots of choice. https://desertdress.com/shemagh-scarves/ No connection to this company. Your other alternatives are the British army issue...

Sad, sad news - RIP Tombear

Sad news, thinking of his family and friends. Fire and a brew sounds just right.

Day Out A weekend bimble Fife

Good to see you posting your adventures again. Liking the beard. Aye the firebox is a bit overkill but it's a great piece of kit, versatile and lets you have a wee fire anywhere. Cheers JFW

    Stainless steel blow pokers

I've used telescopic back scratcher or forks from B and M/ Homebargins. Just remove the fork part and the rubber handle and they are good to go. Rubber handle gives you a wee cover to keep the mouth end clean.

    Knivesandtools.co.uk

At least they are up front with their postage charges and possible customs hit. Does make it slightly less appealing to buy from them in my opinion. Cheers

    Cloak/ shelter thing

The polish poncho is a great bit of kit. There are 3 sizes, size 3 is hard to get, size 2 comes up fairly regularly and size 1 are the least popular as they the smallest. I have a 2 and a 1, both are ideal as ponchos or shelters, but I'm 5' 10" and as a poncho the size 1 is best. I find the 2 a...

Withdrawn Dutch Army 'Sting' Rucksack and side Pouches

Great bags these, I have 2. Just for your info the bar tacks appear to be covering slots where the webbing straps for the side pouches should go through the zip flaps. Don't think it makes any difference to the functionality of the bag. Looks like professional work though.

    Good online reads :)

Great post Mary, I occasionally delve into https://www.ancient-origins.net/ They have some interesting articles on a variety of historical periods that I generally do a bit research on for further information. Cheers JFW
