Tight fitting outdoor trousers for men?

The reason leggings work, is because they are very thin and stretchy. Any tight pair of pants which allows you the same range of motion, will get torn to shreds if trekking through shrubs. If it's stronger, it's like skinny jeans, the exact opposite of freedom of motion, good luck sitting down...

Okay to use this pot, do you think?

I would really not suggest actually using it. It has character, but so do old x-ray machines. This pot is about as safe as those. It's a nice decorative piece, but from any health perspective, do -NOT- use it.

Sawyer mini or travel tap ?

Given this information, i'd suggest against a purely ceramic filter. Reason that you really want to take out the chemicals. An option is the Renovo Trio, but it's a bit expensive. I recently just got the Katadyn Hiker Pro just for this reason, and it seems to work pretty well. The virusses...

    Coat suggestions please?

Wait, so you want a waterproof softshell? Good luck, you'll need it. I'd just stick with a goretex or similar jacket for downpours, and quickdrying things for normal wear. You requirements just don't make any sense. You wear waterproofs under a coat???

    Grey wool shirt?

Why not go with a light wool shirt (Icebreaker has some grey wool tshirts. They are great imo, i'm wearing one at the moment.), with a longsleeve over the top? Layers are always better than 1 more heavy shirt i find.

    Tent not so waterproof.....

This is the reason i'll never buy a 2nd hand tent, tarp, sleeping bag, vest, boots and similar items. There's always a reason they are getting rid of it, and the reason may not become apparent only when you experience the same circumstances. You never know how something was stored or treated...

Sleeping bag suggestions for 6'5' fella

Maybe look into Cumulus? Sleeping bag manufacturer from Poland i think. They have basic things at a decent price, but you can ask for customization. Contact them by mail, and you can see what they can do. http://sleepingbags-cumulus.eu/

Winter Sleeping Bags - any help much appreciated

Could you include the rating of your bag, the breathability of your bivy, how warm you were (were you sweating a bit into your bag) and all those things? People in worse conditions manage to keep their down dry. There is also treated down, which is effected less by moist conditions. With a...

Winter Sleeping Bags - any help much appreciated

Another one for the standard reply ;). Cost, Quality, Bulk. Choose 2. If you ever find something high quality, lightweight and cheap, you'll have revolutionized the modern world ;). What i can suggest, is the Carinthia Defence 4. It's pretty cheap, well made, but a bit bulky and heavy (2kg...

    Another clothes thread (sorry)

Agreed with Tonyuk here. Only changes i'd make are: skip the boots, unless you're really planning to go winter hiking. Then something insulated will be good. Don't get goretex lined boot. As tonyuk states, those will be just hell (You can't keep your feet dry, and lined shoes or boots just...

Which bag/pouch for Swedish Army Trangia Cooker?

Just use whatever you have i'd say. i stick my cooking stuff in an old sleeping bag stuff sack. This is one of the cases where it just really doesn't matter :p

Rucksacks that are made in the UK or Ireland?

Or vietnam, Snugpak makes a very few of it's products in the UK, but the majority not any more. Just look for the origin on the Snugpak products page (checkbox at the bottom: origin). Of those which are "made in the UK", you can be sure many are manufactured abroad and imported, then finished in...

    Adventuring with children

I'll assume that a "nappy" is a diaper ;). Clean them out and wash them by hand? Though i wouldn't take a kid who needs a diaper out "adventuring", not even just camping in the wild. There'll be plenty of time when they can actually walk. Your hobby can wait a bit. It's one of the choices you...

Anybody know where to get a shangri la 2 or similar tent?

Golite is gone, but they restarted under a different name: https://mytrailco.com/ Enjoy.

    Ventile as Sole Waterproof?

You realize that goretex needs the DWR to be reapplied to ensure it stays nice and waterproof? Plastic is breathable depending on which fabric you're talking about and how it's constructed. Unless you think a fleece isn't breathable.
