Hi any old soldiers about? "Shellscrape" question

As a reference, there is this "instructional video" from the MoD side for NBC. It covers slip trenches but also the effects of radiation. But it is nice to see the SLR in film though.

Hi any old soldiers about? "Shellscrape" question

Do you still have your Volunteers handbook? It was written by a officer (not a rupert) from Hull and was the goto book on all things Army. It may still be in there.

    Feuerhand lanterns

What are your thoughts on the Feuerhand lanterns for your overnight or few days out? Been thinking of getting one so I do not have to depend on battery power for light. They are simple to operate but good enough to have around once lit. Some will last 16 hours with a low flame on one 300ml tank...

    Tarp build

The tarp fabric is a off roll cut. So making it look neat would be nice to the eye.

    Tarp build

Was thinking of placing webbing on the points where the eyelets are. Maybe that would solve some problems. But seam glue will be needed and another thing to buy.

    Tarp build

Looking to make a tarp. Got waterproof ripstop which is enough to cover me and be lightweight. Snap eyelets as well. But to make sure it does not come apart I need a few pointers on what I need to do with it so I can take it out for a few days this year. So are there any videos that are out...

    58 pattern sleeping bag.

It will need a refill of feather or stuffing it with hollow fibre. It is so thin on the back you literally can tap the floor with it. I may get some feathers from ebay that is used for pillows and put them in. Hopefully after some sewing (may have to watch BBC2 to pick up how to sew on that...

    58 pattern sleeping bag.

Bought a 58 sleeping bag off of Ebay for £15 (plus the £5 postage) and it arrived today. Good size, zip works well and just the right size for me. Thought I would buy one for nostalgia for when I was in the army. Only 1 problem.... Not enough packing of feathers to make it a all year round...

Dumfries and Galloway, let's choose a site

Was a few years ago but East Ayrshire is decent. There is woodland outside of Patna near Dalmellington. Don't know if it is owned or wild. But there is a forest near the open cast between New Cumnock and Dalmellington which is forestry owned. It borders the Galloway national park so could be...

    Another paracord question

Yes it is. BTW, it is not 300 feet but 300 metres. But thanks for the link finding. :D

    Another paracord question

Last month I had to redo my computer as it had a trojan virus placed upon it. Frankly I lost most of my work and other things besides. So I switched to Ubuntu which means I lost all of my links to various websites (including this one). One link I had was for a paracord seller that was selling...

    Bear Grylis Fired by Discovery

I thought Mears was on Discovery and talking about Britain. (Or was it Blighty)

    Bear Grylis Fired by Discovery

Just saw the news that his next series will be Bear sat at home looking at a map and his bank account. Joking. Although Bear is a TV product, he has done things you would never really do. For me though, it is sad. But at least he is still being shown on Discovery late night.

    What did you buy today?

Bought a fire starter and a P51 can opener. Simple things really.
