    Cheapish Fjallraven Fleece

....the little leather fox badge on the sleeve. sorry I was being flippant. I don't know - it hasn't arrived yet - but my experience of buying high priced kit and clothing is that it is usually better made and lasts longer. I bought a pair of Haglofs "Trail" shoes/trainers 3 years ago - I've...

    Cheapish Fjallraven Fleece

Just ordered the Fjallraven Stibock fleece for £55 from these people http://www.henrybrummel.com/categories/Fjall-Raven-/ for £55, reduced from £105. Don't all rush at once...

I want to buy a decent water bottle but don't have a clue what one!

If you can find the Dutch waterbottle with fitting steel mug that's a great piece of kit. I also use cheap wide-mouthed nalgene bottles and mod them with paracord and duct tape ala Cody Lundin.

    White Rock Tangent softshell smock

Has anybody got any experience of the White Rock's product line? I saw this smock-style softshell on the web recently, it seems to retail around the £60 mark. Any feedback or firsthand experience would be welcome. http://www.campingworld.co.uk/Models.aspx?ModelID=5574

    Magnus Axelson bushcraft knife

Truly a work of art. I doubt I'd have the heart to take it out and use it.

recommend me a SMALL daysack - less than 20L?

well yes, bags may also be an option - infact I've got a knock-off versipack from ebaybanned.com (about a tenth of the price of Maxpedition....) but it's not quite big enough. Basically I want something to carry... * 4 - 6L water * Mircrofleece * fire kit (small) * tracking box *...

recommend me a SMALL daysack - less than 20L?

many thanks for the quick suggestions - I was looking at the Alpkit Gourdon actually, its certainly very light and the waterproofing is a big seller as I want it for creeping about wet and dank places. And I had considered the Highlander 25 as well but I'm going to stick to my guns and look for...

recommend me a SMALL daysack - less than 20L?

I've found that I need yet another carry system - something that fits between my ancient 30L Haglofs Hunter rucksack and my Snugpak bum bag. I want a small (i.e. less that 20L) daysack which is able to carry only the essesntials because I've found the bigger the bag the more I carry...

    Chocolate Fish Merino sizing

I've just bought a Chocolate Fish long sleeve top (Tanaka?). I was undecided between L or XL and finally opted for the XL. It's a bit big but on the other hand the L would probably have been a bit small. I'm 6'1", 14 stone and have a 44" chest. Very nice item btw, I have an aversion to wool...

    Ticks

I've never yet been tick infested east of the Pennines (Durham, Northumberland, Yorkshire etc) but cross over into Cumbria and the place is riddled with them. I was walking through woodland/moorland in shorts in July in Cumbria and when I stopped to check I had dozens of the smaller...

    Long tailed Tits

We had a similar invasion of 5 or 6 longtailed tits in the back garden in late November. to be honest that's the first time I've seen them in the garden, only ever come accross them in the woods, and then infrequently.

british big cats - your views

There has been a lot of speculation about the so-called "Durham Puma" in the last 15-20 years. Looking at the large tracts of woodland along the valleys of the rivers Wear, Tees, Gaunless, Browney, Derwent, Greta etc it's not hard to imagine a colony of feral big cats existing in the wild. Just...
