    sleeping bag for zero degrees

In addition to the previous posts suggesting that the bag may not be warm enough are you sure that the alpkit bivi will work for multiple nights with a down bag? I have never used one myself and this is a question I keep meaning to ask but I would be concerned that you would get moisture...

    Gas/Petrol stove

I meant to put in the OP that as I don't have much history here I would be willing to post first to someone who has good history.

    Gas/Petrol stove

Here is a pic of the stove with bits. The DD may be ok. What sort of condition is it in? Was the MC one the version there was problems with it tearing at the side loops? Any problems with yours? thanks

    Gas/Petrol stove

I had a google but couldn't find out that much about them. It looks like they are no longer sold. Is it a hex shaped one? Any details on size, weight, colour, condition? thanks

    Gas/Petrol stove

I advertised this on UKclimbing and OutdoorsMagic forums but it didn't sell. As I have seen them mentioned on here I would see if there is any interest in a swap. Things I may be interested in would be a lightweight 1 man tarp. Maybe a dog walking coat - I use a Barbour at the moment and it is...

Does anyone use a 'footprint' with their tent?

Having a light groundsheet and footprint allows you the choice whether to take it or not and the footprint can be replaced if damaged. A heavy duty sewn in groundsheet means you are stuck with it. I use a bit of plastic cut from a Lidl dust sheet with my Tiger Paws. Keeps the groundsheet clean...

    Bugs and tarps

I think a simple bug tent like this could be easy to make but it all adds to that point where you might as well use a tent. http://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/integral_designs_silshelter_bug_liner.html

    Buffalo double pile lake test

I apologise in advance for extreme pedantry but Buffalo weren't double pile. They were double P for Pile/Pertex. Double pile was material used by Helly Hansen that had pile on both sides. sorry

    Sleeping mat bags ?

You can get dry bags quite cheap now. You could get one of those although it is likely to be too wide. Being strapped on to the outside of a pack will also make them vulnerable to being caught on fences etc.

    External Frame Packs

I have an old civilian frame but no bag. I haven't weighed it but it feels quite light. I did wonder about just strapping a dry bag to the frame. However the straps and hip belt are quite battered and I doubt it is possible to buy replacements now.

    Bugs and tarps

That is the sort of thing I was concerned about. I did bivi in some bracken once while walking a section of the South West Coast Path. There were a lot of spiders in the bracken and before I went to sleep I could feel them jumping on to me. It didn't really bother me and I ignored it but I was a...

Vintage Survival Aids Pile Zip Up 'Shirt'

Is it Pertex covered? If not the description, pile, long tail and thumb loops sounds more like the double pile Hellys that used to be popular.

    Bugs and tarps

I am tempted to try a tarp. A couple of times last year on short cycle touring and backpacking trips in good weather I thought that a lightweight tarp would have been adequate and lighter that my tent (Tiger Paws). However, there were two nights in particular when bugs could have made the lack...

    Jacket

I have been looking for an alternative to my Barbour for general wear/dog walking and that doesn't look bad. However, it may be a bit shorter than I was looker for. The main issue though is those two zipped vertical chest pockets. They must surely leak in proper rain?

    Dyed my tent

I haven't checked but I am 99% certain the Argos tent is polyester. I have 2 of the green ones but I assume they didn't change the material. Very impressed at the result. I had always assumed that nylon and polyester couldn't be dyed post manufacture and certainly not at low temperatures. Be...
