Forced into extended period in a tent!

This really irks me! When my parents split up, my mum was not entitled to any help even though as Matt has done she had paid all her taxes etc, worked full time blah blah. Matt, my advice to you would be to forgo your deposit (and judging by what you have said about your landlord it sounds as...

Many thanks for the replies guys. I'll definitely be taking my hiking boots and one set of wet weather gear. Being British, I'm in a quirky way really looking forward to seeing their monsoon weather;) Cheers for the heads up about the 3 day shirts tip off. Sorry I mean 3 shirts day tip..I...

What to do in Hong Kong

I know this is a tad like asking a kid in a sweetshop , what would he do..but I've never gone to HK so thought I may pick some brains. I'm starting a new role out there (office based) and wondered if anyone had any tips/tricks etc. Surpised to find that it's 70% rural! It was suggested...

    Boots for Canada

Hi Mrmel I have a pair of Baffin boots. Actually they're a bit OTT for the uk, but some of their boots are rated to -60c! Not cheap and some are very heavy. But if she's standing around for a long time in the snow/ice you'd be hard pushed to get better. http://www.baffin.com/

    Shocking story on BBC News

I've been biting my tongue and removing my posts so not as to offend anyone. BUT I've not stated that violence should be inflicted on these pratts. If you're going to refer to my original post then do it properly. What you read in to it is your right but please do not misquote me...

    Shocking story on BBC News

You are quite right. My apologies to anyone I may have offended. My intention was to obviously post an article that may casue a touch of controversy and as has been mentioned the title has slightly overshadowed the meaning of the post. I was obviously a touch annoyed when I posted the...

    Shocking story on BBC News

Okay, it's a deliberately misleading title. But has anyone seen this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/dorset/8405586.stm What with a number of these issues, including the recent bushcraft post on the pigeon, I'm beginning to think that these things are becoming more and more common...

Ray fan arrested for killing pigeon to eat

Have to agree with this. I'm no tree hugger but had I seen this bloke whack a pigeon with a skateboard, my immediate reaction wouldn't have been "now that's the art of bushcraft, what a novel way to feed your family in times of economic hardship". In fact my first reaction would have been to...

eBay bans sale of all knives....

"quick, there's a bandwagon" said the Ebay director's..."let's jump on it, far easier than writing a script or policing our own website". Like so many things these days, it's the law abiding, run of the mill population that get hit every time. I've bought a knife on ebay from the states...
