Although I've been living in Hertfordshire for several decades now, I still get down to S Wales 3 or times a year, and have slept out with the family in the woods next to Cefn Sidan a couple of times over the last 2 years.

Really good there.

Keep in touch and I'll let you now the next time I'm down.

Another good place where I've camped out is Whitford Point at the end of the Gower - the place with the cast iron lighthouse. Lovely beaches, marshland and forestry.

Needless to say, none of these are campsite locations - i avoid those like the plague!

I live just outside cardiff (about 5 miles away) and i have never experienced a wild camp.
So i would be game if one was organised plus have own transport.
Currently a student so plenty of time on my hands to :) keep posted if something does come up :

Sounds interesting :)

I'm in Neath and certainly don't get out and about enough. Glyn-y-mul is nice enough but unless you get there early you're either stuck over a mud bath or crammed in battling for the good hammock trees :( I've walked around Pembrey park a few times and really fancied spending the night there (poss. around the bunker at the far end of the beach?)but never knew where to leave my car! Unfortunately I don't have access to woodland, so I've been stuck on organised "wild" sites (if there can be such a thing).

So, if there's a meet in the offing I'd be interested and can help organise if needed.

If you can get a group of say ten or twelve you could be able to book GYM Farm just for you. Give Ian a ring and ask; I would think it easier at the start or end of the 'season' though.

OK then.

Who's interested in a night or two at Glyn-y-mul?

£5 a night
Reasonably easy to find (15 minutes from the M4, just upstream from Aberdulais Falls)
Toilets on site (if a bit of a walk from the riverside)
Open fires allowed if managed properly
Not much deadwood on site but they sell firewood and allow you to bring your own
The site can be a bit muddy following the rains, so a date for the camp should take into account the weather

PS; if anyone has the skills and will we could have a couple of "how to" sessons. Any offers? Given some of the posters on here appear to be at the lower end of the skill tree (no offence, I include myself in that category!) we could start with the basics (knife care/sharpening and fire management) and work our way up.

Re dates I think late March or early April may be doable. But that runs into Easter and may be busy.

Anyone have a preference on dates?
