Hi All.

I've been sitting at work avoiding the rain by doing 'research'.

I found this website and thought that It might be of interest to some of you who are in the area and who are looking for good wood based stuff to do.

http://hillholtwood.com/

It may also be of interest to those of you who are planning a career change and trying to workout how to make a small woodland pay for itself.

happy reading

I think it's a good use of land and as a community project probably very good but it obviously has a fair bit of backing with planning permission and funding from local councils.
Not the sort of thing any1 could set up in their own little wood.
And even though it is environmentally friendly i wouldn't want loads of people wanding round my wood!

It is a fantastic wood, some of us have spent the night there and I have even slept in the gigantic canvas tipi. This was back in the day when Ubermeister (Anthony) was working there, the peacocks are interesting especially when they have a new brood of fluffy little peacocks! It's a really nice wood, I did a bow drill workshop there for Ant and Stonecutter, they were the only two to turn up as everybody else had to drop out for the usual reasons. Still, we got embers and then moved on to making a set with wood we found in the wood. We got loads of smoke with that but no embers as it was still a bit damp. Ant said he took the set home that he had made and got an ember with it after it had dried out at home, so it worked.

If you get the chance to go, it is well worth it. There are even some pole lathes and other green wood working its and bobs although you'd have to supply your own metal tools. No idea what ties Ant still has with HHW, I'm sure BB had their Summerjam there again this year and it is becoming an annual event that is very well received by all accounts.
