Just cheapo rubbish nowt good.

like the hollow handle Rambo knife I had when I was about 8 or 9 - Used it once as a throwing knife, so inevitably handle and blade parted ways quickly. I don’t think many people had a long term relationship with these type of knives though??

An all black, riveted, steel-handled lock knife with over pronounced finger grooves - if I remember that lasted one use only before the blade no longer locked. What a horrible turd of a knife that was.

Winchester sheath knife battoning some small diameter wood that a 4mm blade should have coped with easily. Broke the blade in half. Used the sheath for an Esee 3.

My radio operator insisted on carrying a Rambo knife. His snapped when he tried to lever up a petrol spare container ( Jerry can).
It was around -35C. The German manufacturer did not think anybody would use it I guess...

We laughed and made fun of him for a long time after that.

I once broke the tip off my dad's old sheath knife using it to pry. No worries though, him being a grinder he just reground it, a little bit shorter.

I've had the same experience as most here, with the old rambo style knives and tip breakage.

I have experienced handle breakage with an number of Sheffield scout knives, lock failing on a buck 110 and the worst experience of fixed knife breakage was a helle viking blade (brand new) that broke at the top of the stick tang while trying to replace the damaged handle. I emailed the seller to ask for a replacement, after no action or response, I rewelded it myself.

I’ve broken the tip off an Opinel, when I took it to get the point put back on, I warned the cobbler it was sharp, he said, “it will be when I ,****” to the accompaniment of blood dripping.

I had the point ground off a safety knife for my kayaking kit, does that count?

i broke a chunk out of an el cheapo chinese-made chopper (yes... i know... but it was the only chopper the shop had available and it saw extensive use) and recently the spring of my mini Leatherman's scissors broke in half whilst trimming my facial hair, otherwise i've been lucky so far (knocks 3x on his head...)

My brother has recently snapped a Boker Magnum KhuCom in half while batoning kindling, that's a 7mm thick knife. Guessing it's a bad heat treat

Scouts are almost as good at testing to destruction as army recruits. Their record on breaking Fiskars axe hafts is legendary, apparently the std way is to get it stuck on a pine stamp and then kick it sideways ...
