Managed to get away for a few days in this stunning weather. Took too much gear with me, But I did have the luxury of a three person tent plus tarp awning. Did not encounter a single biting insect, and came back tick free. Forgot my knife, and daren't light a fire, everything was tinder dry. Anyway here's a coupe of pics.

Cracking photos :D
Nice bit of the world, but it does look dry even around the burn. Looks like an excellent chill out break.

Touch wood, but I've been out and about dawn and dusk recently and not had a single bite either :D
I don't mind there ever being much problem with ticks when I was young, and we played in the heather and bracken. I do mind the midgies though when the air was still, and my Dad being really glad that he smoked a pipe  :)

You could have been 20 minutes from my house. Good to see that kind of scenery is spread around.
Very well photographed, too.
Fish? Handful of breakfast cereal then sit and watch. I use puffed wheat or Cheerios. Fish cannot lie still.
Even flicking a single pea-sized bit of cheese might do the reveal.

Exmoor
I love it here on the moor but... I could seriously be tempted to move! I love my trees and it can be a bit treeless for miles here. Fantastic views for miles admittedly, but I prefer it a bit wilder. Exmoor is farmed for the most part. The deer and wild ponies make life a bit more interesting. Heard the deer yelling (bolving) last night , owls were vocal and so I popped out for a torchless, pitch black midnight walk. It was quite lovely with everyone in bed and just me wandering about by the river. You could hear everything and I had great fun trying to identify each sound and using my stick to navigate the paths. It was so dark I was practically blind. Quite an adventure! It realy ramps up your senses.
