Two different products?
The Jerven bag is developed primary as an enclosable survival product. With a wider use.
The Finnish tarp is just a tarp?
I know the differences Janne.

If you have used the VV tarp please let me know your experience of it.

Not used that one but I have one I had made to a similar design ( multiple eyelets on all sides, plus two (2) smaller eyelets in the middle.

Two because I wanted to be able to attach a line easily.
I used mine as shelter on fishing trips.

You can of course attach a line on one eyelet too, using a sturdy stick.

I say go for it. Finnish = well designed and high quality.

I've got a Vihe Loue shelter thing. It's an interesting design that requires a little thought when setting up but then, when in use, is really sturdy and weather-resistant. I do like the aluminium-coating stuff on the inside which, apparently, increases the warmth a little; I don't know whether it does but it makes for a more homely ambient light underneath it in the hours of darkness.

I would assume that their 3x3 tarp will be similar. They are not the lightest but definitely work if the weather pulls a gnarly one on you.

Thanks buddy. Is the material robust? What are the eyelets like?

The fabric is strong and heavier than the usual silnylon that seems popular in tarps nowadays; it should be perfectly robust enough for pretty hardcore use. The eyelets on my Loue are well positioned brass ones that have held up perfectly well thus far.

In general, Finnish designed and made gear seems to be both very well thought out and built to last, so I reckon that, if you go for one of their tarps, you'll get good service from it.

Hope this helps a little!

I don't have one or have experience of using one so totally disregard this post if you want to but …

I have never found 9 attachment points enough. If you pitch it like a wedge tent you don't have enough loops to get a good riser at the back (the middle one is too far in) and you don't have points to narrow the end facing the wind (sorry, words fail me to describe what I mean :(). If you want to hang it from a ridge line (so the rain doesn't drip in along the ridge) just three points isn't enough to hang it tidily.

Others will have different opinions I know, and I'm sure you have experience of hanging tarps, but I just wouldn't buy one with just 9 loops :)

Thanks for your input. It's appreciated. My go to tarp set up is either a plow, lean-to or adirondack shelter, because I prefer a shelter to favour the fire. These don't need more than 9 attachment points. Alternatively if I require a sealed shelter I use the tipi set up.
