A British inventor called Shawyer designed a new type of engine which he called an EM drive. The majority of scientists scoffed because it seemed to defy the laws of physics, so they dismissed it. Thankfully some took it seriously and now the space agencies have worked out it is capable of amazing speeds...

So around 70 days to Mars... given the timescale of technology advances, there is no reason we (as a species) couldn't be visiting Mars in the next 30 years... so who's up for some bushcrafting on Mars?

I've taken the wife and kids camping/bushcrafting all over the world and so far they have always managed to find their way home ......Now Mars, that's got me thinking.

Mars!! That's a Marathon journey, make a Fudge of the landing and land with a Crunch or to even miss the planet would be no Picnic. You could end up in the Milky Way. While on this Topic, is the inventor an Aero engineer and did he get paid a Bounty for his idea? Think I'll stay away from the Galaxy and remain on Earth. Happy Marscrafting....;)

Leaky photons probably provide the thrust. Prefer the Sun Sail idea for Solar System travel.

So we can have a meet on Mars if there is plenty of overpriced waxy chocolate bars on offer? :p

Turns out there is an even faster engine using plasma that will reach Mars in 39 days... just watching the docu on it now.
