Hello,

I have recently bought my first knife, a Mora Clipper 840 Carbon Steel Knife but i am wondering if anyone could recommend me a good UK Legal Knife for day to day carry on walks.

Thank you

If the information i read is correct the blade must be under 3 inch and the blade must not lock in place for the tool to be UK legal, does anyone have any recommendations?

Thank you

i also like the Spyderco UKPK and Spyderco Urban but cannot find either for sale in the UK?

Try here http://heinnie.com/Knives/-UK-Legal-Carry-Knives/Spyderco-UK-Legal-Knives/c-1-641-658/ for the UKPK. They are great knives, I've got 3 now, Titanium, Carbon fibre and G10 versions (all of which are now discontinued), also have a look at the Spyderco Squeak as its a nice small (non-threatening for non knife people).

As for what EDC to go for, it all depends what you want to use it for. I used to carry a Swiss Army Knife Huntsman but found I didnt use all the tools (only used the knife when out in the woods) and I've got a leatherman in my pack so I just wanted a pocket knife and the UKPK is a good knife to have.

first off I'd get an alox sak farmer

then a single blade knife like a sodbuster

This is what I would like to do, I am thinking of a Swiss Army Knife and Spyderco.

Followed the link and cannot find the UKPK which is the one that takes my fancy, will have to shop around i guess..

Thank you

This is an interesting thread.... I see many bushcraft knives for sale or made on here but technically we can't carry them to use. I read that pauljm116 carried a leatherman. Does this not have a locking blade (not a criticism just a question) as I recently replaced my lost leatherman with an equivalent Gerber (given as a gift).

Having carried it round for a while and recently finally used it, I realized it has a locking blade! Technically this means I had (please notice the 'had') been carrying an illegal knife on my person without realising. Why put a lock on a knife of this type if we can't take it with us for use out and about. Why sell them at all in this guise.... Surely a pocket knife or utility knife is carried for when it might be needed not just for keeping in a shed at home when any old knife would cut that annoying thread or cord as required.

Rant over at the silly laws we have in this country!!! The grass is always greener.........! LOL. ;)

You're quite right my leatherman does have a locking blade (also got an sog paratool which has non locking blades), I have asked a few policemen about it and they said as its classed as a tool and I dont look like a hooligan and wouldnt be using it in a dangerous or threatening way they wouldnt have any problem with me carrying it - all depends on the individual copper though I suppose. I usually have my leatherman in my pack when out in the woods so shouldnt be an issue, if I want a multitool on my belt I always carry my SOG just in case I bump into mr plod on a bad day. :)

Theres 3 at the bottom of the page called UK penknife (thats what UKPK stands for). :)

I did not know that! Seen it on the earlier list, google'd UKPK and thought it was a type or design sorry!

Think i will go for this one: http://heinnie.com/-UK-Legal-Carry-...co-UK-Penknife-FRN-Leaf-Blade/p-641-658-6081/

There is no detail on the grind though, how do i sharpen it? New to this sort of thing sorry and just bought a mora and learning to sharpen that blade at the moment, is it also a skandi (sp?)

Thank you.

ive been told that as on most multitools when the handles close the blade is still classed as a locking blade but i guess as said it depends on the copper, i daily carry a sog pocket power pliers with wood saw and v-cutter replaceing the file and blade,im going to add a clip to it as well soon, for camping and work i carry a powerlock,
