There is something in the rejection of the preened culture that gets someone closer to nature. it applys to all you bearded, longhaired or dreadheaded men or the women that dont dye or use heated gadgets or even scissors. My hair hasnt seen chemical dye in a decade or hairdryer in 20 years and no scissors since 2007. i cant really put it in words, but there is something about peoples appearance and how they instinctivly interact with nature and themselves.
And, dont forget you cannot have hair and good looks!
Oh I think you can, in fact I'm sure it's possible to have a good head of hair, beauty, intellegence & artistic talent.
*looks in the mirror at his 2ft+ length of hair and full beard* you know this explains a lot
it always confused me how I was able to spot a bird perched in a tree asleep from half a mile away while no one else around could see it, or I'd be the first one on a walking group to spot the rare plant or small animal darting between the trees or how I can tell what the weather is going to do or what direction is north. yet those around me with simalar level of training and experience in the outdoors were compleatly oblivious.
I don't know I've always had long hair and until I dreaded it and grew a beard I had no complaints, now I get mixed reactions some people love it others hate it. and some just want the privlage of cutting it off (and in the case of one creepy little girl keep it in a jar)
well I got the hair, am resonably intellegent (at least in some things due to asperger's syndrome making some things really easy to learn and other things impossible) and I'm a reasonably artist

as for looks... well I did my best to get rid of those but unfortunatly good looks are relitive so while some people run screaming others stand drooling... people are weird creatures
