Whenever I've had work done by a cobbler I've always been surprised how small the price is - well worth asking one if you have a local one before deciding to DIY.

I asked the same question (but about standard classic boot) in Timberland store last week. They said that Timpson's chain are the authorised specialist people to do Timberland.
Interestingly they also said they do a trade in scheme... 20% off a new pair when you trade in any old ones. (so any really scruffy old pair from a car boot sale or charity shop could be worth £26)

Cheers for that Adze which cobblers did you go to in cumbria, ulverston or Barrow easiest for me.

Ah... last cobblers I used was in Rochester in Kent, there's a couple in Barrow according to Yell.com, but I've no idea what they're like - sorry.

The ones I've found to be best in the past have been the tiny places which you miss if you blink too frequently while walking down the high st.

Definitley worth an ask before parting with money for a new pair if the uppers are in good nick.

Cheers,
