I dont think so. I 'squished' one of the berries and it seemed to have a hard tiny pit at the center

Apparently non edible berries (unless one is a bird). Only as cultivated here and then not common.

It looks awfully small for an untrimmed privet was my thought.
Privet grows long withies, six foot long is quite common, and it's awfully useful for basketry :)

I've noticed quite a few of these growing on my way to work - they never get very big , not unwieldy.
